Underdark problem

Post by JessicaB »

I need help! I am in the Underdark and am trying to kill Balor, the demon you're sent to kill. Problem is I've talked to the leader who sends you on the quest to kill Balor, but I can't get to the area where it is supposed to be! There is a door in the wall and there's another guy standing there guarding it. The door is locked and I can't get through it. Also, I know you're supposed to get a scroll from the leader, but he never gave me a scroll. Every time I go back to talk to him he just says "you're welcomed back..." and something about being worried about safety. The guy by the door keeps saying to go talk to their leader or you can't pass. Is there some way to fix this? Did I miss something?

Thanks in advance to anybody who has a clue how to get out of this mess!

You might try leaving the area, and returning, to see if that fixes the problem. Perhaps go the east and north--not all the way east--and enter the cave door.

You need to talk to man who is guarding the door and he will let you pass.If you can't fix your problem just try to pickpocket the gem from the leader. It's the reason of the quest.By this way you will only loose some XP but you'll be rescued from playing the spellhold again.

Obligatory patch-the-game post

This is probably redundant, but: Install the latest official patch (ToB here) and then install the baldurdash patch.
Vicsun, I certainly agree with your assertion that you are an unpleasant person. ~Chanak

And also as we say in the support biz, SAVE EARLY, SAVE OFTEN!! Especially in this game where death can come at any time. I quicksave before almost every big dialogue.

At worst the auto save game will put you fairly close. There isn't TOO much you can do in the underdark before you can get into Ust Natha, and since the reward for killing the balor includes the light gem that lets you talk to Adalon, who lets you into Ust Natha, it might be worth your time.

Since you didn't mention that the stoneshape scroll wasn't in your inventory, maybe you didn't notice when it was given to you.
