The easiest classes to begin with would in my oppinion always be a warrior class (Fighter/Barbarian/Paladins/Rangers).

Then after a few levels you could multiclass into rogues/clerics/druids for added abilities.

But - to start with I'd go with a fighter with a couple of levels as a rogue for disarm trap and open locks, for easiest way into the game.

But if you go with a henchmen (a warrior type henchmen especially) - most classes should have a relative easy start in NwN.

I would go for a paladin, and since you have both expansions dual him to Champion of Torm when you have that option.

They are strong, reletive easy to play.
And easy to rollplay, and since you get some minor spells, ability's you also get a better feeling for those things then when playing with a fighter.

Stay away from the monk/mage classes on your first run.
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Monks are pretty easy too I think.

I say you play what you like.
All classes can finish the game, though some are weak at low levels like the wizard. Then you simply take a fighter hencheman.

Otherwise you'll only regret it later IMO.

Read the manual properly and you can make any character strong. Remember to beef up important stats (intelligence for wizards and strength for a fighte) and you should be fine.

Fighter is probably the easiest, but I went through my first game with a sorceror easy. If you pick the right spells (it not that difficult) it's just a matter of staying back and letting your henchmen do the work. I thought that the paladin was rather hard to assign stats to because of its thin stat spread.

The paladin is the strongest class there is, it's only weakness is where to put those stat points.
He needs strength for attack and damage, constitution for hitpoint and saves, wisdom for spells and charisma for turn undead (least important).

A high charisma is good for a couple of other Paladin abilities/spells, too, for example Divine Shield, Smite Evil etc.
There are three kinds of people that no one understands: geniuses, madmen and guys that mumble.

Remember people - this is not a discussion about which class is best overall in what situations.
It is a discussion about which classes are easy to start the game with for a newcommer to NwN :)
