Horribly stuck.... help?

Post by Nyv »

I've been doing pretty good so far, getting around Taris without more than a little peek at the walkthrough, and am enjoying the trip.

Problem is, I've finished the Estate portion, and my mottley crew are trying to get off the planet. I cannot get past the gunner station. I've tried two dozen times, read every word of suggestion (shoot like crazy at start, look at radar, keep the target steady, etc) and seen people call it 'easy'.

It's rather embarrasing, but I'm admitting defeat. Is there any way to cheat past this? Being on PC, could someone take mercy on me and play my saved game past it?

Very thankful for -any- help.

You're not going to like my reply :-)

I didn't think it was all that easy! I went throught it and beat them, and then lost my game for some reason. I had to do it again, and it took maybe 10 tries. But I did it...

Since it wasn't easy for me, I shouldn't offer to do it for you. But if no one else does, I'll try it for you...

I don't mind it being difficult. It's the impossible part I got an issue with. My hand-eye coordination is near nonexistant.

The zipped together saved game clocks out at 2.35 MB, so I'm a bit hesitant to e-mail it without a heads-up.

Until I found out I could use the D and A keys to move the turret right and left respectively, I was having serious problems with the turret mini game myself on the PC.

Yes, use the arrow keys. It's impossible using only the mouse. However if you still can't win I would happily finish it for you.

This site has a mod that will disable all non-compulsory (yes, there are about 2 more compulsory ones) spacecraft scenes.

While the "mini-game" gunner position loads, start pressing fire fast and a lot. That will cause you to jump into the game shooting and take out a number of the fighters fast.

However - I must admit I have had no problems at all with this part and I find using the mouse - although slower at turning, then the keyboard- is much better in precision then the faster keyboard.

Also - remember to shoot ahead of moving objects, so that you will hit them from afar.

How I do it is I pay attention to my radar and when I see a fighter moving towards me I turn, aim, and when it starts shooting it is coming straight at you. very easy this way. Repeat this process till there are no more fighters.
Hope I was helpful.

Soorry

Sorry, I don't mean to sound rude, but this was the easiest part of the game, the fighters are soo slow, and they choose the same path every time.

Or maybe it's just years and years of FPS paying off.

another thing that helped me was using headphones.

THe radar works well, but if you can also hear those ships shooting in your ears, it gets your reaction time even faster.

The shoot first, ask questions later rule is very good...Start pushing that button ahead of time...I actually got all of the ships taken out in the first 10 second that way (One time...)

another good strategy is to focus on one ship at a time...don't be swinging around searching for ones to shoot at before they aproach you, that just makes things confusing, just follow one starfighter, untill he or another comes at you...

Also, forget about aiming...Seriously, I tried aiming once and died...Just shoot the damn thing.

The easiets time to hit the fighters is when they come in close to shoot you. Just blast them while they are blasting you! It takes 2 hits to kill each fighter.
