A computer on the network is identified by what is known as an IP address, which consists of four numbers separated by dots, such as 127.0.0.1. However, there is one address that cannot be used by any computer in the world, and that address is 127.0.0.1. The reason is that this address has been reserved as what is known as the loopback address. A loopback address is an address that tells the computer not to test its connections to another computer, but to test its own basic network setup. (From: Connected: An Internet Encyclopedia) 127.0.0.1 is a Class A Address
Jackie Treehorn: People forget the brain is the biggest sex organ.
The Dude: On you maybe.
But it is really sad. so get your tissues out - you have been warned.
127.0.0.1 is the loopback address in the ip protocol. When you are on the internet one of the protocols that govern communication is the ip protocol. It splits data up in little parcels, each with a sender and return addres and sends it on the net work. If a parcel is send to the loop back address 127.0.0.1 then the parcel never leaves the computer - you get it straight back.
::1 is the loopback address in the new IPv6 protocol.
Be glad you are not a geek… be very glad

As RT and Tom2 has explained eloquently (didn't get to do it myself) - it is the localhost IP.
So basically - my signature says "Home - Sweet home" in "geek".
Took it from a t-shirt from a danish "nerd" web-shop, but they only had it in small, so couldn't purchase some shirts for use
Guess I have to go with some XML motives or maybe a WYSIWYG logo
RT, hard to explain. It was a guy with not much hair on his head. You only saw the part from his chest to his head, and he had red and blue clothes. I think.....
