need help with dual classing

Post by thoughtatwork »

I am trying to create a kensai then dual class to a mage, but I do not have the option to dual class for some reason. My attributes are 18/16/18/18/15/6, and I am neutral allignment. Is there a certain level you have to attain in order to dual class? or what might be my problem?

Those stats should work. You need a 15 in the class you dual from (STR for Kensai) and a 17 in the class you dual to (INT for Mage). You also can't dual class until you are level 2 in the first class, but that shouldn't be a problem in BG2.

EDIT: Ah. Koveras has a point. I wasn't thinking about race.

That's weird then, cause I am human, and the option to dual class isn't available, any other ideas?

What level is your PC? And just on the off-chance, what stat is attached to your 6 rating?

My Charisma is 6, and I have tried dualing with him at level 8 in SOA, and I have tried importing him to TOB to make him level 18, and I still can't dual class him.

Odd. That doesn't make sense: a human, at least second level, with the high stats you have, should be able to dual class from a kensai to a mage. Do you have the latest official patches? Are you running any mods?

I don't have any mods or patches, just BG2 installed with the TOB expansion. Do you know of any patch that would help?

I would suggest in any case downloading the latest ToB patch (assuming you have ToB installed) or the latest SoA patch (if you only have it installed--you don't need this one if you've got ToB).
