Insane backstab damage!

Post by Yeltsu »

As I was adventuring in the Watchers Keep with my solo Kensai\Thief, I suddely find myself on the level with Lum the Mad's machine, Then, as I sneak about in the Illithid area, I bump into some Ulitharid, Mind Flayers and Umber Hulks. Being as stealthy as a lvl 40 Thief can be, I backstab one of the Ulitharids, for an immense 228 points of damage!

I am just wondering if anybody have made a backstab for those ammounts of damage, if not, maybe I should call Guiness.

BTW, I had 25 Strenght due to my good friend Crom(****), and I also used my other good friend, the Celestial Fury(*****) to perform the backstab.
My backstab multiplier is 5x

Bah! For real backstabs, play an assasin.

Well, my FMT has just crippled one orog out of his soul with an outstanding x5 backstab of 119 hit points. The difference is that I was able to hit the rest of the orog pack with 50 dmg cause I was misleaded, and I'm sorry Vicsun, but one Backstab of 490 dmg is useless, while seven backstabs around 50 are the real killers... :D

thats why I dont play a plain thief solo, but usually a m/t or a fmt...

just do not consider my point about 490 dmg. heheh, it is real funny, but I gotta make my point, ye know.

Celestial Fury + Quietus +4 (item upgrade mod) + potion of storm giant strenght, IIRC.

Man, I thought my 150 was a lot. I knew there were some badass assasins out there who were dealing Octuple damage etc. though. Still though, just dealing is easy enough if you can prepare, but the situation is where it counts. My 150 was against the Sahugin King. Seeing him explode in the first second of battle was a cool sight.

Yeah, backstab rox very much, I found it to be the best way to deal with mind flayers and the likes: backstab -> run away with boots of speed -> hide -> backstab once more -> repeat as many times as necessary.

cheesy I know, but hey, it works right!

Normally, Assasins get the highest backstab dmg... X 8
And as for weapons to backstab with, just use the best katana that you can get for the most dmg, cause katanas do the most dmg so the multiplier works best with that weapon

Well, I'm very happy with my fighter mage thief doing 55 dmgs with top of 198 once when misleaded... so nice to see those chunks of meat flying... :D

I dunno, but backstab seems to me very limited to the hide in shadows hability, and thats why I never plain thief...
