how to get main character from bg1 to bg2

i completed balders gate 1 last week and my main character was said to have been exported..im now starting shadow of amn and i want my main character to start the game yet im unable to get him in?any ideas?

when yu export your character in BG1, it ecports it to the bg/characters directory.
copy it from there to the bg2/characters directory, and it should work!

(PS, did you have the golden pantaloons in your inventory when you exported, you can take them with you)

ok

yeh got the pantaloons!! i did try the other night to drag the file from the balders gate file but obviosley im not doing it right so where is the file that i have to find??do you have to go through windows explorer to find it??and when you do do you right click char1 and theb save to gb2?thats what i tried but didnt work!!yeh wana try and get the pantaloon thing to work.....

If you don't know where the file is, then yes, you'll probably have to find it. Once you've found it, copy the file over to the BG2 characters directory. Then you can import. Alternatively, you can do it by copying a saved game over to the BG2 savegame directory.
