Umbra Sword. Hideously Overpriced?

Post by giles337 »

Why is the umbra sword worth 110000??? as far as i can see it can be bettered by a lot of weapons, orevents the use of a shield, and is rather heavy as well. personally i think it should be priced nearer 40,000. This is a completely pointless question but i was dead chuffed about getting the sword and decided to let you all know i had it even though you are all probably thinking "god, i got that sword within 5 minutes of starting the game... what an idiot this giles character is" and now i am typing for the sheer clickety clicketyness of the keys. What do you guys thing about the purty purple claymore then???
Mag: Don't remember much at all of last night do you?
Me: put simply.... No :D
Mag: From what I put together of your late night drunken ramblings? Vodka, 3 girls, and then we played tic-tac-toe and slapped each other around.

No offence to Umbra Sword lovers, but I found the Umbra sword useless, weak and UGLY!

i find it far from useless, as i a =m early in the game and don't have any of your fancy daedric dai-katanas, crescents and the suchlike. And it is SO not ugly. it is purty purty purty :D

The Umbra sword reminded me of Excalibur from a King Arthur book I had once, looked the same, it was really special for me obtaining it. I remember as a level three Imperial on my first run through the game thinking. HA! I hapless Orc. Die Orc. Oh god... I haven't quick saved in a while. One hit and I was dead.

To be honest, i did it at level 17, and was a bit dissapointed. he had all this dramatic fluff, and i expected to take more than 1 hit from him  i wld also have liked to learn more about him though, maybe if he had a journal on him???

On the topic of weirdly priced items, there's a lot of stuff in this game that's priced wrong. Some stuff (like umbra) is overpriced, while something as powerful as Trebonius' necromancer ring is worth 240 bucks (if my memory serves me correctly).
It seems to me that an item with multiple good CE enchantments like the aforementioned amulet should be worth a lot more than a few hundred septims!
Of course, this reminds me of the whole skewed morrowind money-system debate, which is probably a topic for a different thread...

I have been in suran once the whole game. whats the umbra sword? the only thing that reminded me of excaliber was the chrysmantherine... chrys... whatsis. the imperial legion sword. thats exactly what passed through my mind... my lord i am king arthru!!! I spent 15 minuets going to sloshtiem for my ancient steel armr and bought a steel helmet... it was pretty darn cool. i went around killinge everybody in 'the name of the lady of the lake!'

The lords mail is overpriced too... cure poison and resist magicka 20%-30%, but CAST WHEN USED? and crazy weight too... how come it's a legendary item? It defiles the cuirass of saviours hide!

Its got a better armour rating than deadric, I'm guessing that would be the reason. Jester, Umbra can be found in the mountains just west of Suran, levitate over from the middle of town, and you'll find him, he's certainly an interesting character.

Ooooo, I have never seeeeen this ancient steel armor. Sounds like something I'd look for - my character is so advanced now, I don't care about how GOOD the armor is anymore, I just want something that looks cool. Where is it?
you know what they say about all work and no play...
It's totally not worth the monetary rewards!!!

andcient steel armor... I dotn know that its all taht different from normal steel armor, but i like it anyways. collecters item and all that jazz... om well it was in the Jhothmund (no way the spelling is right on that) Barrow. like half way up slostheim and to the west. its the snow elve's armor, I dont know if you did that quest... anyways there was no helmet. good luck finding it... lol.
