i ahve only gotten the "your disk may be dirty" twice... but it just stops pretty often... and I almost never take it out of the xbox anymore so I dont know how it could be scratched... maybe the console just doenst have the raw power. sometimes it will freeze up, the start up again... so whenever it stops i hold my breath and knock on wood. it wouldnt be such a pain in the neck if it didnt take at least 15 min to re-boot.

Summary...
Ok, that problem I was having with the "Your disc may be dirty..." went away. I took the disc out, cleaned it with my shirt for a few minutes, (mind you wiping from the inside out,) and then I did like, major cleaning of my xbox. I blew in the tray and dusted it. I dusted the outside of my box and the table it sits on and under it and everything. And since then, it's worked great. I dust it every day, just so something like that won't happen again. And I've had like, 2 freeze ups in about 2-3 months. My xbox doesn't freeze all that often. But I'm sure dust definitely affects things. So keep it dusted and clean. And I don't set anything on or around it. I don't think my xbox has frozen once with the GotY version. Oh yeah, and I have the Samsung version. My friends and I were all sitting around looking at our xboxs and I opened the try to mine and my friend was like, "Whoa! Your xbox tray is screwed up!" (I guess he and my friend have the Thomson's or whatever.) That's cool to know about the diferent drives. I thought they just redid the tray for the newer boxes.
Also... I went away for a while and I took my xbox with me, and when I went to go play it, I'd hit the "open tray" button and it would come out fine, but then when I hit the button again to shut it, the little light would blink and one side of the tray would try to go in, and it would make little clicking noises and then it would just give up trying to pull the tray back in. I haven't had this problem since I've been home, and I think it only happened because my xbox was on an uneven surface. Has this ever happened to anyone else before?
These are just the things I know from my experience:
1. Keep your xbox clean and dust-free.
2. Keep your discs clean and dust-free; avoid scratching/smudging. If you are to clean your disc, wipe with soft fabric from inside out, not around. (Be sure to use something that's not going to leave fibers on it, also. Such as tissues. Well, I've used tissues before, but make sure you blow off the remaining tissue-dust once you're finished. I wouldn't recommend using paper towels, seeing as they're kind of rough and might scratch the disc.)
3. Keep area around your xbox clear of objects and dust.
4. Keep xbox on an even surface.
P.S. I leave my games in the tray all the time and it doesn't seem to bother either the game or my box. ?

Wow - not since 2004...
Well, incase any of you are still around, this is my experience.
Mostly, Morrowind likes to crash at night. If I'm up and about during the day, and sleep at night, it seems to help. Don't know why.
Also likes to crash in Vivec, and just north, near the Dren Plantation...even during the day.
Likes to crash when I levitate for extended periods.
I thought that by going out and buying a new copy of the game it'd stop crashing. But that most certainly was not the case, for it still crashes just as much. My CD is brand-spankin-new, and I just nozzed the frack out of my box.
I've also fallen through floors into the water. And I've walked through walls, which, in most games, is an instant fatality, and you must reboot.
I know this post is way to late, but hopefully someone will read it.
PS - What does fetcher mean?

My Xbox "Tray" I think mines the old but it runs soo fast i did buy it Refubished which meens it could have an old case...but I know it had brand new parts inside meening Micro soft may have put the new drive inside :| cause the disk tray seems to be the older type but im not 100% sure.
It sinks a little swards the center and then a little bit more after than after a half and inch or so like you coyuld but a game cube disk in the second lower part (i just confused myself...hope you understand what i just said...lol).

I bought GOTY a second time except Brand new and it worked MARVOLESLY!lifeishell91 wrote:Well, in the first version of morrowind, I kept getting frozen in the same spot and it would crash every now and again, so I just went out and bought a new Morrowind game, my save games are on the XBOX hard disk so I dont have to start again, and when I played it, it was perfect! I did not freexe again until like 8 monthes of playing the game, but then I got GOTY version and now I think I might have to go out and buy the Disk again.
At least this is one thing that we can say is better about playing the game on XBOX than on PC
And yes, it does sometimes make a buzzing sound....
and i had a Nifty Paper map too lol.

Please don't double or triple post. It can be excused for now, but if you repeatedly do it, it could lead to action by moderators.
If you wish to add more, you can always hit the edit button, and if quoting people, then just make the quote button open a new page and copy the text into your main window for posting all at once. It just makes it much easier to read, and stops post farming.

On topic, since I play PC, I haven't really got much to comment here, but that falling bug seems to affect me too, just jumping then saving, always seems to set it off.

I'm closing this thread. It serves no purpose, since it's obvious the Xbox version can freeze. There seems no more reason for the thread's existence than that.
