Ok I'm new to the forum so let me start by saying Hi. Now that thats out of the way I am looking for some fast help that I'm hoping this knowledgable forum can offer. My problem is thus:
I completed all the henchmen quests on chapter 1 and moved on to chapter 2. In chapter 2 I was able to complete all the henchmen quests save for Dealen's and Linu's. I have obtained there quest items and started there dialogs only to have them stop there stories after the second part. Now I'm not sure if this has any bearing but of the 6 chapter 1 henchmen quest items I had 4 of them in my inventory as I conducted Chapter 2, the other 2 items I kepted in a chest back in the Port Last barracks, those 2 of course being Dealen's and Linu's.
My question is, is there a console command or hack that I can use to jog them into the last part of the Dialog or at least obtain the reward so I can continue on with there quests in chapter 3?
I thank you in advance for any help you can offer. I am at the gates of Luskan and do not want to continue without these quests completed if at all possible.
Henchmen Bug - Need Help!
So - if I understand you correct, it is only Dealan and Linus quests that can't be completed, and you have the prober quest items that they need?
And the other henchmens quests are completed?
Then it is surly a bug you have been bitten by... have you patched your game fully?
If not - that would be the first thing to do.
It is possible to spawn in the rewards you would get, but that wouldn't finsish the quests and you wouldn't complete the chapter 3 quests for thoes two characters, however you could then spawn in the chapter 3 rewards as well.
The console command to use for this would be dm_spawnitem <itemtag>, where the item-tag can be found in the toolset.
(If you wish the spawning - then just let me know and I can dig out the item-tags from the toolset. )

I have patched the game to the most recent version. I can only guess that the fact that I left there chapter 1 quest items in a chest while I was leveling was enough to prevent the completion of the quests. If you could find those items in the toolset I would be most appretiative as I have a very limited knowledge on its use. Thanks for the pompt response too!
I'm not sure I'm following your meaning with the "chest" issue.
Keeping stuff in chests should not break a quest.
And did you complete the chapter 1 quests in chapter 1?
I'll dig out the reward items for chapter 2 and 3 from Linu and Daelan and post them as soon as I get to them

The item tag for the rewards are:
Daelan:
nw_hen_dae2rw
nw_hen_dae3rw
for chapter 2 and 3 respective
Linu:
nw_hen_lin2rw
nw_hen_lin3rw
The way to use them is to use the dm command/console commands.
You can (should be able to) refere to your manual for this information.
Then you need to type the commands as such:
DebugMode 1 (starts debugging mode, and makes console commands active).
dm_spawnitem <itemtag> (this will spawn the item under your mouse cursor)
When you are with spawning - exit the debugmode by typing:
DebugMode 0
Daelan:
nw_hen_dae2rw
nw_hen_dae3rw

nw_hen_lin2rw

Well the thing is I'm playing a wizard and I'm also a pack rat. So when I'm about to leave a chapter I take everything I can and once I'm in the new chapter I store anything I'm not immediately using in chests/barrels/cabinets so I can access them throughout the chapter. Its odd that the only two quests I couldnt complete are the ones whos items I left in the chests. In any case thanks a lot for finding those spawn codes I really appretiate it.
-Oh last thing, yes I did complete all the chapter 1 henchmen quests and obtained there items, to answer your previous question.

just to confirm. i have the exact same bug with Daelan, where when i tried to ask about the second part of his story (after leveling) there is no dialogue option to continue. I also have the same problem with Grimgnaw.
i posted this bug over at bioware, and will post any useful responses here.
I wonder; i have played a bit with the Leto editor. do you also use this?
cheers

Woot! found what causes the problem myself, and found a solution over at Bioware:
problem is caused by not having the item reward from chapter one in YOUR pc's inventory when you talk to them in chapter two. I noticed this because i had Daelen wearing the necklace he gave me, he was carrying grim's necklace reward in his pack, and the ring that tomi gave me was being used by my familiar. these were the three that were broken. so, 1st off, make sure you have the hench's quest rewards in your pack (or on you) before you speak with them. and two, here is a very detailed fix i pulled from bioware's forum:

OK, here is the other information I promised.
If you have a henchman who refuses to complete their story for you or if you did not have their reward item on you when you first talked to them in chapter 2 or 3, then the following should help you solve the problem.
You may need the henchmen tags so here they are:
Tomi - NW_HEN_GAL
Linu - NW_HEN_LIN
Sharwyn - NW_HEN_SHA
Daelan - NW_HEN_DAE
Grimgnaw - NW_HEN_GRI
Boddyknock - NW_HEN_BOD
Before doing anything else, be sure to make a backup save (new save, not a quicksave). This will give you a save to go back to if something goes wrong. The next thing to do is to drop the contract they gave you when you hired them. Then make sure you have their reward item on you from the previous chapter. After doing all of this, you are ready to enter DebugMode. Be sure to type carefully. It is case sensitive. To enter DebugMode type:
~ or ` (depends on keyboard, key next to the 1 key)
DebugMode 1
You should see Success in the upper left corner of your screen. Next type:
~ or ` (whichever worked before)
dm_setvarint NW_L_HENHIRED FALSE
Your cursor will change to target mode so click on the henchman you are resetting. Remember this variable is stored on the henchman, and tells the henchman whether you have ever hired him or not.
~ or ` (again whichever worked)
dm_setvarint NW_L_HENNW_HEN_XXX0 FALSE (replace the X's with the 3 initials from the henchman's tag that you are resetting, and replace the 0 with the chapter number you are in 1, 2, 3, or 4)
Your cursor will change to target mode, so click on your character. This variable is stored on the PC, and keeps track of whether you have talked to the henchman before.
~ or ` (whichever worked)
dm_setvarint NW_L_HENSTORYCX 0 (replace the X with the chapter number)
Your cursor will change to target mode, so click on the henchman you are resetting. This variable is stored on the henchman and tracks how much of his story the henchman has told you. Then be sure to close DebugMode by typing:
~ or ` (whichever worked)
DebugMode 0
By resetting some or all of these variables, you should be able to get the henchman to complete his story and give you his quest.
I hope all of this will help. Thanks Rondoalla and everyone else who has tested this for me.
Stay cool and good luck.
