Advice on playing mage

Post by Tovam »

I've been playing BGII for a while now and just found out i've just been hack-and-slashing
Does anyone have advice or something on how to play a mage 'correctly' (not only damaging spells and such)
I know about the spell reference but I think it's just a bit to complicated to start with :(
Thx

well, do you want to play with a mage in a new single game? or maybe solo?
If you're playing with a whole party, you dont need the protection spells that much...
and items you MUST have for a mage: Robe Of Vecna, Staff Of Magi (or Ram), amulet of power

Sry, forgot it
I am a Kensai/Mage who dual-wields longswords and maybe flails (Flail of Ages) or warhammers (Crom Faeyr) later (so no staffs)
and I play with a party of five at the moment (Me, Minsc, Jaheira, Aerie and Yoshimo)

Magic missle is a must, other then that and later on spells (simulacrum, tensers if kensai is dualed, etc.) web and spider spawn work well together because spiders cant get stuck in web, mainly good for soloing tho.
EDIT: It may seem obvious that you are dualed, but you could have used SK to edit it to multiclass with kensai. Which is why I'm asking.
