If you are grandmaster you must have built a stronghold sometime. Otherwise you wouldn't be grandmaster. Since you're Hlaalu, check the Odai Plateu between Balmora and Hla Oad. Your stronghold should be there.

Ooooh... :D

That explains a lot. I think the construction of your stronghold begins at the rank right before councilor. But if you are on pc you can once again rely on the console. Warning: I have never ever tested this myself so I can't promise it will work. Maybe someone else should back me up on this one before you try anything.

However, my curiosity on how the strongholds were built forced me to check how they were built. The only thing that I came up with was this. The variable "Stronghold". It seems to have values between 0 and 6. 0 means nothings there, 1 the stronghold quest has begun, 2 is the first stage ready, 4 means the second stage is ready and 6 means the stronghold is finished.

So, theoretically you could write "Stronghold 6" in the console. Or maybe "Set Stronghold 6" or something similar. But wait for someone else's comment on this first.

Usually you eventually run into this topic speaking with your patron (your sponsor in the House). There are tow stages : bulding the stronghold and expanding it. The first stage is related to becoming the Councilor, the second, AFAIK, is necessary to become the Head (whatever ir's called in different Houses) of the House. I believe you cannot miss it save if there's uncorrected bug in intitial version on pc (corrected by patch) and in the standart version on xbox (i believe it's set right in GOTY), i.e. even being in another House you might become the master in Hlaalu if you were killed Orvas Dren in right circumstances. No stronghold in Hlaalu in this case, though.
Normal way in your right House includes two sequences of quests -1) to get the stronghold built and 2) to get it expanded and populated.
