Why can I not buy "raise dead" scroll.

Post by veronimo »

I have run into a snag and am hoping I can get some input.
I have Nalia - a mage/thief, Valygar - stalker, Aerie - Cleric/Mage, Yoshima - Bounty Hunter, Minsc - Ranger, and my Character is a ranger. My difficulty is, I am unable to buy "raise dead" scroll. I have been to all the temples and no one in my party can buy scrolls. Take that back, a couple of them can buy heal and restoration, but that's it.
Any idea what I need to do? BTW I have also added 4-5 other people to my party and visited the temples hoping that maybe I could get the scroll that way. That gave me nothing too. Help?!

I don't remember ever coming across a raise dead scroll. However, if you have casualties, you can go to most temples and have the dead partymember(s) raised by the resident clergy.
Alternately, you can go to the Adventurers market and buy a wand from Ribald that'll do the job.
Buying scrolls, btw, isn't something that some characters can or cannot do. Everybody can buy any scroll; but not everyone can use any scroll. A mage or sorceror can use magic scrolls, for example, but a fighter can't.

Whereas all wizard spells are available on scrolls, only a few priest spells are. Consider it laziness on BioWare's part. I think temples should have such scrolls for sale.

i've seen them for sale, but i can't remember where.

it's easier to go to the temple and use ribald's wand when you get the cash. or have a cleric in the party at all times, as im guessing aerie can't cast level 5 spells yet.

Thank you for you input. I had forgotten about the wand of resurrection. But, what bothers me most is, I'm at a temple, I'm looking at their items, and when I click on them to purchase, nothing happens. They are all a blue color, at least I think it's blue, it might be an orange, anyway, it doesn't matter who I have look at them I can buy none of them. In fact, they change prices depending on who looks at them. Could this just be a bug?
I have had no problem buying anything at the temples until this last go round. However, the wand does give me what I need for now. Thanks again.

How do you get the priest to ask you to resurrect a party memeber? I have never been asked that by a priest. He'll ask me if I need services, but all I get when I say yes is his list of equipment. What do I need to do to trigger a resurrection from a priest?
I am so confused :( . Help?!

hmmm... could it be?

PC Reputation?

*blows dust from game manual, consults page 130* It says that stores will not sell items for reputation 2 and below.

I have done a search on this and other forums and have not found an answer to your question.

Perhaps, you can take a look at the character screens and check it out for yourself.

Good luck!

Or perhaps you are watching their services tab. If the list says "cure minor wounds", "cure heavy wounds", "raise dead" or something like those, it means that the priest will cast that spell on the selected party member instead of selling a scroll. If you want to buy items, look at the tab with the backpack, not the one with the snake and the sword.

Well, my reputation is 10. And I am unable to find the manual. So, any source of help is greatly accepted . . .
BTW When I played the game this am, I could buy easily, with no problem, at any of the shops. The temples I still could not buy from and I still only get the "services" question, it never gives me an option to have a person healed or to have one resurrected. However, I don't think that's going to be too much of a problem. I hope not anyway. Thanks for your info, appreciate it.

The priest will always need if you need services, and if you say so you get to a window with the plate for the offer in the back and some icons on the bottom: one is for getting services (get healed, resurrected, restored etc., just select the char that need the service and click on the service you need), one is giving an offer (select and choose the amount of gold you want to donate), one is for shopping and the last is for identification.
You need to select the shopping icon and the priest will show the items for sale.
