You need to use charm spells on him and personality boosters on yourself.

does he even let you talk about more than one thing or when you try and talk does he just say goodbye? because if he will talk to you without saying goobye then the charm will work but if he does say goodbye your screwed

I"m right. Just use more charm. The only way you can't get this done without cheating is if you've accidentally killed a daughter or the guards in the Corprusarium, which I apparently did my first time. Then he'll attack you if you talk to him. But as long as he talks to you without attacking, you'll be OK.

Are you sure your charm spell was successful?

IIRC you need to have a spell strong enough to push his disposition up to 100.

If he attacks you, you should just use a calm humanoid spell...then charm... :p

Well the big problem is I went there and use the discentagrate armor spell then pick pocketed the guy for it, so he does attack me. I have to use a calm spell on him just to get him to talk to me, but I cant seem to get a charm spell to work on him but I havn't tried it after a calm spell. Thanks I'll have to give that a shot. Thanks to everyone for all the help.

I'm probably way off base here, but is there a chance Telvanni Bug Musk (I think that is the stuff?) would work? From what I gather it hugely boosts disposition of NPCs towards you...

You're not necesarily screwed. As was said earlier you can use some simple spells. If your spell casting is too weak then train it with someone in a mage guild. Then use the spells against him when you're strong enough. As for the Telvanni Bug Musk, you're more than likely correct. So long as you didn't get the "you've doomed the world" thing you'll be alright. Best of Luck!

*spoilers*
Well, if you're doing this and need to go to the guy to cure for corpus disease, then I have no way to help you. except if you are REALLY set on doing the main quest *cheaply*, stick with the disease and go kill vivec for wraithguard (which is on his body...) ignore the "thread of time" speech and collect keening and sunder from the ruins in the red mountain... go to the dwemer dude in the corpisarium bowels, do his quest. take all this dagoth-butt kicking items to dagoth ur and he will ask to duel or whatever... follow through with the quest and save (do NOT overwrite...) and voila! the main quest is over! (but you still have corparism...) (the details might be a bit sketchy, my sister did it this way...)
well, you COULD start a new game *shudder* slow character *shudder* ;)
hope you find a way! :D

About a month ago I had the same problem with Divath Fyr and I find that if you can either get about 5 bottles of telvanni bug musk or get your personality over 150 by any other means, Divath Fyr will forgive you.
(It isn't based solely around personality, but you need to find a way to get his disposition over 60)

Turns out that later I just ended up killing him for his armour anyway :)
