problem in the Toxic Caves

Post by straydog1980 »

i've read everywhere that you can unlock the elevator door with an electronic lockpick. I have the electronic lockpick MkII in my inventory, after repairing the generator, and I click and use on elevator door, and it tells me "you need an electric device to pick this lock". I KNOW THAT, I JUST ****ING CLICKED ON MY ELECTRONIC LOCKPICK AND USED IT ON THE DOOR!!!

can you tell i'm getting frustrated?

If anybody can help, it would be appreciated. I don't care if there is nothing cool beyond that door, but I am one of those players that has to see everything and go everywhere (can you say 150 hours on FFIX?)

kthx

If you repair the generator in the room east of the elevator, the elevator gets
the electricity it needs. Then use the lockpick.

after you repair the generator, dont put the lockpick in the active item slot where your gun would go, click and hold on the elevator door and scroll to the back pack icon then click the pick from there

hmmm....i've already done both of those things. I repair the generator first, then try to use the Electronic Lockpick MKII on the elevator door. It then tells me I "need an electric device to pick this lock".....which is what i'm using right? I've tried doing it from my active item slot and also by clicking on the backpack thingy. I can't figure it out. Am I supposed to do something with the computer? or the monitors?....sheez

I get the same thing... I'm about ready to go find a crowbar or some plastic explosives. :)

Have you installed the patch? Maybe it's because I'm playing a 1.00 game that it doesn't work?

First off, whats your lockpick skill? Its gotta be half decent to open the door. Dont know the exact requirements, but high. And theres plenty of good stuff down there.....especially if your not towards the latter half of the game and providing you can withstand plenty of pain :D :D .

i think my lockpick skill is at 70%?? but it's not telling me I failed, it's telling me, when I try to use the electric lockpick, that i NEED to be using an electric lockpick.

I think i'm going to try the patch, because I'm playing a 1.0 game as well. As far as good stuff goes, I would really like to know what's down there. But I went down to San Fran and Navarra and got the Power Armour before even visiting Klamath. I really enjoy going up against 10 dudes with guns and they don't even bruise my armor. EAT MY HP *****ES@!!

! ! ! ! ! ! ! S P O I L E R ! ! ! ! ! !

Personaly, I wouldn't bother to go down to there now... You find:

One or two robots with machine guns and rocket launchers
Bozar
combat armour
.223 FMJ
Laser pistol
ammo for laser pistol and plasma rifle
and some other minor stuff...

money, stimpacks...

Really not worth it if you have been in Navarro...

Any good places to get lots of 2mm EC ammo? I know the gun shop in NSF gets a little in every once in a while, but now that I've got a Gauss Rifle, and a Gauss pistol for Vic (and one I'm considering giving Cassidy, but I've got so much Shotgun ammo for his Jackhammer now) I would appreciate having a little more.

There are a few (3 I think, the sheriff and 2 cops in the station) guards at NCR that have 2mm you can steal.

Thanks, I missed the two guards. I guess I'll just have to kill some time in NSF waiting for the 2mm ammo to become available again, and again, and again. *sigh*

hmmm... I thnik you can find some 2mm EC ammo in the caves... down the elevator...

Also, the merchants in San Fran have a lot of that... And you can alway go and kill a few Enclave patrols to get 10 or so round of 2mm ammo... And some XP and some Pulse pistols and plasma pistols... :D

Well all the guards inside NCR carry 2mm EC ammo (all the ones i robbed did!!!), so does the short dude in the slum outside. Enclave patrols usuallt have apare and the mutant on the 4th level of the military base has a gauss pistol fully loaded but with no spare rounds. And the san fran shopkeepers usually have a fair bit on them, although not all the time. But the best palce to get major amounts of that particular ammo is the enclave main base. They got tons of it stashed away. Plus plenty more goodies as well!!!!

I've decided to run back and forth between NSF and NCR with some loops up through the plains for XP and to kill time. Gives the shops time to restock. I usually get 10-15K XP and about 200 2mm EC every few days.
