The monk levels are an interesting idea, you only get the AC bonus without armour right? I was considering this but decided against it as I have found AC less important in HoF. However using Armour can give other benefits like Freedom of Movement etc. I like the Wizard levels too, just enough for a few Images, but this again means not using armour. This is fine with the build you hvae as you plan on not using armour anyway. Is there much other benefit from taking 3 Monk levels? You get Evasion from the Rogue levels anyway and by committing those Monk levels to more Rogue ones you can get a better Sneak Attack and more skill points. Conversely giving these levels to Fighter or spreading them out will give better BaB's and more Feats.
yes but the missing armour is no problem, you can use the bracers giving +5AC, shield +7 and ghost(?) armour I think giving +5(?) can't remember if ghost armour stacks with the bracers or not)

...as there is not that much good armour in IWD2 you better go completely without armour if you want an usefull AC (50-70) in HOF !

with barkskin (gerneric), high DEX and WIS, and some other items giving generic armour...

...you theoretically can reach an AC of 70 to 80 and then you only get hit with a natural 20 even in HOF !
What about these Wisdom bonuses you mention, when do you get the +2 wisdom bonuses from quests? And I thought that only the highest Stat buffing effect worked, using two Every God Rings still only gives you +5 to Wisdom doesn't it?
...you're right the rings shouldn't stack and won't stack stack AFAIR...

but there is one special dreadmaster quest giving you +2 WIS AFAIK

and the potion of "holy transference"(?) also giving +2(?) WIS...

and both you can get on normal and on HOF - means +8 WIS that way !

use the ring for +5 and increase stat for max. +7(?)

and you have all together +20 WIS means +12 or +15 on AC via WIS !

...and even with Drakkas you can't get that high !

and with the slippers and 20 DEX you also get a +10 DEX bonus on AC

...so you can reach AC 35 - completely unbuffed and without using armour or any other items !

...with:

bracers (+5), crows nest(HOF+3), fire dance talisman(HOF+3)
shield (+7), haste (+4), barkskin (+5), and recitation (-2AB enemy)
expertise (+5), dodge (+1)

...you get an more or less invincible AC 70 !

if you manage to get tensers (+4) scrolls you even have an AC 74 !

EDIT: if you use a deep gnome instead of a drow (m) you will get another +4 AC but then you will have some trouble with your stats !

That's pretty cool.

I never found a potion of Holy Transference in either norml or HoF mode, but according to the Gamebanshee site, it gives +2 Wis and -1 Dex. Where do you get this Dreadmaster quest? a permanent +2 stat increase is pretty handy!

The Shield spell gives you +7 armour. Ghost Armour gives +5 Deflection. Bracers give max of +5 amrour so won't stack with Shield. Generic armour increases From Flamedance Tal. and Crows Nest and Dodge give you +7 total.

This would allow a base AC (unbuffed) of:10 (base)+5(bracers)+7(generic bonuses from Flame. Tal snd Crowsnest) = 22.

given Wisdom of 34 (14 base +5 Everygod Ring +4 2xPot. of Holy trans.+4 Dreadmaster quests, +7 level up bonuses), this gives you an AC bonus of 12 bringing you to 34.

Dex. of 23 (base 20 + 5 slippers of Chim., -2 po. of Holy Trans) gives a further bonus of 6 taking you to AC 40.

This is a pretty handy basic AC, haste gives another +4, Shield adds +2 and Recitation effecitvely adds 2 more. If your spell casters spend their casting slot for the turn on these buffers, (You cast Shield, another Arcane caster Mass Hastes and another Cleric casts Recitation) for a Total buffed AC of 48, 53 if you Ghost Armour as well, but a Ring of Prot. +3 is almost as good and you don't need to spend time casting it. Barkskin and Expertise are the two that will put you over the top, giving a further +10 bonus up to 63. Thats pretty hard to hit.

Only problem is that all your spell casters have spent their turns buffing this one guy. He is pretty hard to get past though. Do you hvae any problems keeping the rest of your party alive? Also, does he hit much and do much damage? is the -5 BaB penalty from Expertise a problem?

just started a new game - and it's a long time ago that I have played IWD2 - so I can remember some items I found but not where ! ;)

AFAIR the brazen bands (+5) stack and also the ghost armor with the shield spell !

and AFAIR there is a potion also increasing DEX permanently !

casting: most you can cast before battle

- barkskin: 10min per caster level
- ghost armour: 5 rounds per level

...so you only need mass haste & recitation at start of the battle or just a second before ;)

btw. with a party of six - and all PCs having some caster levels that's really not a problem !

...with DUHM, recitaion & exec. eyes and a good weapon and a even better off-hand weapon (speed!) you will definetly do enough hits per round !

btw. there is a 2nd high AC PC in my party and 3 ones having the full mage defensive buffing capabilties so I only have to protect my druid / bard !
Sorry if somones already mentioned this, but I just created an icewind dale1 party with 3 of my characters having:

STR:18
DEX:18
CON:18
INT:18
WIS:10
CHR:10

(however one had 18 wis instead of int and the other sacrificed int for 18 chr)

But anyway, for these 3 characters I rolled for like 2 minutes max and got these rolls (I limit my roles to like 20 for a bit of fairness - also, I am VERY lucky with dice in general)

So yeah, try for something that good.

(btw stats might be slightly different, I think one of them had like 17 con and 19 dex due to race, but it was max all and 10 on 2 of them)

Other characters had like max all but 2 on 7-10 and maybe 1 stat less than max.
How do you get to roll ability scores instead of just using the point buy system?
You can't handle the truth!

...in my actual run (the one before is about 2(?) years ago) I get the potion of "holy transference" for completing the 2nd or 3rd battle square rang ...

...I'm not a Kuldahar yet - but AFAIR the dreadmaster quest was there...

...but I will tell you exactly where - when I found it :)
