When I met up with our good dragon friend and engaged in conversation, I noticed a conversation option that I'd never followed. Right where he tells you about going and getting the jailled kid, there was an option to talking about the deed to the land, and when I followed that, he offered me the option to steal the deed from Garren and get a reward.
Turns out, it was worth 42K exp, one of the items in his treasure plus you can still go and kill him afterwards and get the rest. I believe that you also lost a rep point.
Anyone else find this one?

Firkraag's other quest - possible spoiler!
are you an evil character?
i've never seen this option before. have you got unfinished business installed?
Nope True Neutral all the way around. I think I do have unfinished business installed though, so maybe that's why. I'll take a look at a vanilla system and see if it still shows up there.
Cheers!

Maybe that's an option that was restored by the Unfinished Business MOD, but I saw some of the dialogues myself a long time ago by using Infinity Explorer. I always thought there were two options: you could either rescue Garrens's child or ruin Garren by giving Firkraag the deed to the land. In either case, you were free to attack Firkraag, to which he would say, "Very well. As they say, it's your funeral."

From the walkthrough I've been working with (which is not based on any mods) is this note:
----------------------
Evil Note: If you are one of the three Evil alignments you can offer
to swipe the Deed off of Garren in exchange for treasure.
Conster immediately kills the child of Garren, and you are
sent to Garren. Steal or kill Garren to get the Deed.
Return to Firkraag to get your reward. (40,500 exp, Cloak
of the Shield) This has no effect on reputation, however,
some party members will leave when you accept this quest.
(from Nick McIsaac)
----------------------
For the record, if you rescue Garren's daughter and kill Firkaarg, you get 44,500 quest xp from Garren. That's an extra 4k each, 24k in a party of 6. It may be that this doesn't get a lot of mention (the Versus books guide doesn't mention it) because working with Garren is considered to be both easier and more profitable? But if you're more into roleplaying pure evil, I can see why you'd want to know about it

In case you didn't know, Garren's child is a daughter if your main character is male, but Garren's child is a son if your main character is female. If you play a Paladin, there are some romantic overtones (as in, "I will let you wear my scarf and you can be my champion"). It's not that big a deal, but it's nice (and it's certainly a nice alternative to selling Garren and his child down the river).
