My company contained 1 mage and 1 cleric. The company was lead by a paladin. Therefore, I have to challenge Firkaag soon. My cleric wasn't lvl 14 (no Pit Fiend). When I faced Firkraag, I was really teleported around repeatedly and my characters were really affected by sleep-like spells. Sleep-like spells and teleports allowed Firkraag to harm my guys for free. I was unable to slash it any way. Resist Fire didn't help - Firkraag went through. There were no reason to wonder. Checking the character screen we can read: resistances - fire 100, magic fire 80. The same is stated in the description of the spell. Silence was averted. The battle looked this way: hit Firkraag for 10 HP - get 25 HP damage. That's why I recommended Fake Talk.
There is one question I would like to know the answer - Potion of Invulnerability. It could help significantly, no doubt, but... There are 2 types of the potion in the game. 1. The fat bottle with a gray liquid (can be bought and found in the Sewers) - this kind of potion always tried to polymorph me (it never succeeded) and gave me no bonus to saving trows. That's why the potion wasn't used at Firkraag.
2. The thin bottle with a coloured liquid. This kind of potion works as expected. The potion can be bought in Drow City in the Underdark - too late for Firkraag. How is it with the Potion of Invulnerability? (Note: All my characters are warriors - either paladins or figter/something. All of them were polymorphed by the type 1 potion)
Next topics:
1. Mordekainen Sword: I agree, but you cannot buy the spell, you has to find it. Once I found it in Prebek's House. Next time I found it in Sahugain City.
2. lvl 19 fighter - I was baffled, too. It was a response to Chade Fallstar.

Duh! Never heard of a Dragon's Wing Buffet?? He slashes around with his wings, knocking everyone nearby away, some across the map (with dragon lairs in this game, the maps aren't that big). How would you feel when you've been knocked away so far? You'd be counting stars as well for at least a few seconds, and that's also what your party members are doing when they've been swept aside.

Well, hmmmm,if you can't wait til your party is stronger you will most likely have to rely on summoned monsters to be used as cannon fodder though this is not a reliable method.
Better would be to get your hands on a fiend scroll (Bernard at the Copper Coronet sells one) and put it in the quick item slot of your mage and summon a demon to distract Firkraag. Note: I don't know if those lesser demons are immune to his firebreath and normal attacks like the pit fiend but at least you can try).

Firkraag is a worthy opponent.I read some replies here saying that he is not that tough. But you must consider this:most people here described tactics to beat him and that means that you have to use certain strategies. This fact makes him a tough opponent.
You can't simple walk and kill him like elementals or golems. You need strategy and tactic.Which of you didn't stop for a moment and consider "what should i use/do to countereffect this attack" ?
I beat him with a lvl 9-10 party with only 2 melee characters (PC:lvl 9 cavalier 90 HP) but he was very tough (especially if you try not to get any of your party members killed like me).
The second time with a 14 lvl party it was easiest, but i also had the experience from my first encounter and i planned every little detail carefully.
Finally i need to note that,in my opinion, the dragon fights were by far the most interesting and challenging battles in the game.
