Anyways, speaking of how much gold you have in TOB, it's true, there's a lot of gold and items to sell for lots of gold around, but then those high level spells are sure expensive - I think I dropped like 250,000 in one shopping spree!

But the thing that happened to me - I had 200,000 gold, I was doing Watcher's Keep, and I went into one of the wild magic rooms, where imps are casting all these wild surges. Well the battle is really stupid, but in the middle of it I notice a line in the readout - party has lost gold. So after the battle I look, and I HAVE 40,000 GOLD! That stupid wild surge cost me 160,000!!!

!!!!!!!!!AAAAARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
May you walk on warrrrm sannd....

i wasnt talking about the dragon in suldeneene....the elven city, i mean the silver one. he\she\it is perfectly comfortable there and should have a stash.
And that's the bottom line, 'cos Stoner Cold said so!

Adalon? Hrm...that's a tough one.

How about this...when they stole her eggs, they took most of the hoard as well? Out of all the dragons in SoA she is the most likely to have someplace cleverly hidden or magically offset - silver dragons in AD&D are pretty tough Mages and also much more intelligent than most. :)

Naw...she's a dragon, and a POWERFUL one. I think she'd be too proud to seek help with that. The only reason she used the PCs for the eggs was that there was no way she could possibly rescue them herself. The drow would definitely destroy them before she got too far, and almost certainly have a bunch of 'dragon sniffing' spells constantly active since she has historically been a thorn in their collective side. :)

Adalon could have taken an oath of poverty, so that she can't take a bribe from the drow.......

Firkraag could ....... well....... hmm...... uhhh........... ok , there's not actually a GOOD reason for him not being friggin rich.

Thaxx'y'llsia , is the Shade Lord's pet doggie. Fetches a few screaming virgins in the morning, sits under the dinner table and begs for scraps, and then passes the evening in front of the pit of hell .

Nizzidrimzyt , Irenicus pays this guy minimum wage, and that is why the demoralized didn't put up too much resistance when you killed him. Irenicus, smuggled him across the border, and knew that he could pay this immigrant, a substandard amount and maximize potential profits. Don't you know he has several sweatshops in the MoonShae Isles, producing sneakers, like Air Pig, and the Jan Jensens. Also of notable mention, is that Irenicus is the one that contracted Lum The Mad, to build all the machinery that the wage-slaves use.

Heh... interesting topic.

Balance reasons are out. Gold is useless as long as you have someone in your party that can pick pockets and a potion of master thievery. Even if you do not you can still find plenty of gold through the game. A good bit of treasue from a dragon won't upset world balance.

RP reasons for it are many. Dragons are known for having huge hoards of gold, the game accepts this as common knowledge. For example their is that guy that in Trademeet that stole a little bit of gold from a "small red dragon" and had enough left over to bribe the party with 1000gp.

Red Dragon - thier is no reason he shouldn't have a hoard, he is encountered within his lair. He has lived here for years. He planned the encounter though and could have hidden it away, but he is too arrogant to think he could lose.

Shadow Dragon - Now this is a tricky one. The shade lord seems to be in-charge or controling this beast so who knows, it may very well have its hoard hidden away elsewhere while it works with the shadelord at the temple. Would still make more sense if their was a hoard present though.

Silver Dragon - No reason for her hoard not to be there. Adalon hasn't taken any vow of poverty and Irenicus didn't steal it, if certain dialogue options are taken she actually mentions her hoard. Also you can ask for an item from her hoard as a reward. If her hoard was stolen away - you'd think she would mention it then. She is good afterall and shouldn't be overly prone to lying about such things. Irenicus took the eggs to barter with the Dark Elves. Its very possible she has it hidden magicaly, but if you listen to her she sounds even more arrogant and self-confident than the red. You'd think someone stealing her kids would take her down a step or two

Black Dragon - This is probably the only dragon that shouldn't have a hoard. It is obviously working with/for Irenicus and would not want to carry its hoard into the middle of a war-zone.

As to Adalon having or not having a horde. Isn't she in that cave to guard the surface basically? Therefore, it's not her 'normal' den of dragonness, it's just for a few hundred or thousand years. Nothing in dragon terms. Thus, her 'real' horde could be in her other cave. The comfortable one with the good lighting. (She does leave the underdark after you leave, doesn't she?)

hmmmm...Don't Dragons lay eggs a couple at a time? Like most repliles dragons should do the same. They 'theroretically' are reptiles.

Wouldn't it be cool to fight a whole nest of 10 feet tall baby Dragons and then have to take on their mother??? This would definately be a challenge in ToB (possible the only challenge too) :D

"Isn't she in that cave to guard the surface basically?"

She calls the cave her Lair. She says that the drow have forbidden her to leave her lair. Also its nowhere near the cave to the surface.

It "could" be some sort of temporary lair type of thing, but to believe that you have to read things into the conversation that she isn't saying and come up for different meanings for the things she does say. But Also: Even if this was a temporary lair, she has been guarding it for centuries, surely she would have a bit of treasure there too.

No... she doesn't teleport anywhere when I leave the underdark. I think if you choose not to kill her she does though, but she mentions revenge first.

Goblyn,
There you are, she can't leave if you've killed her ;)

I remember her saying something about not needing to be there anymore. And, though she is not *near* the surface, I thought she was in the underdark because of the Drow Decent, guarding? (thus maybe she has a different lair)
