Heh, wow, one tough fight esp with a party of 3

Post by Musashi Miyamoto »

Heh rember theFight in the upper floor of the den of the seven vales the one with mencar, brennan, smaeluv, amon and pooky.

heh all i can say is wow that's one tough fight, esp when youre a party of one ranger, two kenshi, going to dual them all to thief, clerc, and mage, heh it'll be an tough challenge later on i maybe pick up a npc there and there to help out but for most part i'll solo it on insane difficity.

Anway the first 5 try they utterly annihated me in seconds, i hate pooky's dormation, and some other spells i hate them GRR that was the reason why i keept on geting killed, then i lucked out and got a thief out solo and i ganged up on him, now i quick save then head up and took 10 tries to get pooky out the door far egough for me to hit him hard then i ran away to heal up then quick save, then head up and nuked the 200 hp dwarf and berham rising then i healed then hit the solo mage, he went down so fast and hard, actually he exploded but that's a different story :) all i can say is wow its an tough fight esp right out of the dugeon after you did the Circus tent which btw was pretty easey. and this is on insane, all i can say is this will be an very interesting game :)

I always did this in Chapter one (full plate ;) ). I positioned my party in the corner by the mage and familiar. I force attacked pooky and the mage, and summoned lots of creatures with the wand of monster summoning. After both mage and familiar were dead, I attacked the barbarian or mencar with my tanks, which ever was more of a threat. I had my mages concentrate on the thief (backstab is death).

And then after, I petrified my pc on the trap on the chest.  :D

the easy way is to get web scroll in kahlah"s dungeon of illusions, in one of the potted plants by the stair case, then have mage memorize it. set up as many slots as you can, then go to ribald, sell cloudkill wand, buy back fully charged. go to room, talk, say you were leaving, then go stand just outside and cast about 5 webs. cast 3 cloudkills, and watch them die/ got fun I used a sorc with inc cloud

I did it with my solo beastmaster right after the circus quest. If you drink potions of speed and draw them out one by one it makes it a lot more easy.

I To was worried about this battle (solo archer) yet it was supprisingly easy (no reloads) - first stealth at top of stairs to scout out room (make sure see pooky). walk in the room next to barbarian .Drink potion of speed, use ring of human influence to charm barbarian(send him to deal with the dwarf. Nail Pooky before his prot missiles goes up. the kill theif (backstab is a killer) lastly destroy the silly mage. if friend barbarian has not wiped the floor with the dwarf kill the dwarf . lastly kill the charmed barbarian.

It all went so smothly i was incredibly supprised. my party of 6 in the previous game got eaten the first few times they attempted this battle.

Yes, little Pooky is much more dangerous than big bad Mencar...

No need for stealth there, they do not immediately go hostile. You get some verbal abuse, then you can calm them down, back off, and make them pay. :D

A very solid strategy early in the game. Reminds me of Algernon's Cloak in BG1. Unlimited Charms. Cheesiest item in the game by far!

BTW, the Mage has really lousy spells. Bit of damage (Burning Hands and Acid Arrow) is about all he brings out. Pooky has several nasty mind-affecting spells.

This most recent game I wasted them pretty easily, but in the past these guys were /rough/.

What I did this time was have Anomen cast Great Command, and Aerie cast Emotion: Hopelessness on the room, after having positioned my Fighter/Thief (Stealthed) behind Pooky.

Well...the spells dropped almost all of them, except for the mage, and the Dwarf - I simply backstabbed the mage before he could raise his defenses, and then had the whole team attack the dwarf.

No reloads, no problems. I /love/ the combo of Great Command and Emotion: Helplessness (Oh yeah! I had Jaheira cast Pixie dust so the team was invisible, gave us that free surprise round!). This worked great on the nasties in the Guarded Compound too. :)

heh keep in mind this is with a group of three, two kenshi with 3 Ac, and a ranger with -2 Ac, all 3 of them have ~ 96 health and just leveled the first time in the game, and this is on insane diffucity :)

heh wish u got 2x the xp for playing on insane, that would be a worthy reward for being insane ;)
