Try to imagine...
You are one of the dudes in the Twisted Rune- One day, some adventuring party comes in, and you whack them.
But somehow, they magically, go back in time ,using the Omega 13 and attack again. This time, they know exactly where you are hiding and what spells you plan to use.
Still, you whack them again, but they come back, again and again, until they finally beat you.
Maybe high level monsters should get to "reload"- now that would make the game challenging.
While I'm on the subject of the Twisted Rune, what's the point to the naked fighter guy? Is he their mascot? Does he do the cooking and cleaning? How did he make the cut during tryouts? My wizard meleed him just for fun once.

Cute idea: I rather like your antagonists reloading.
I remember somebody posting a typical session on DragonRealms a number of years ago which showed all the text, including the formatting, in the right places, but all of it reflecting the viewpoint of a bunch of orcs, who are one of the lower class critters in the game. It was hilarious, including the calls and complaints to the GMs (their DMs).

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
The game: "Finally! Irenicus falls... But wait, what's happening? The world starts to spin and all around turns to darkness. Moments later, you find yourself in a familiar place..."
The player: "Not again!"
The player: "Not again!"

I think it my be possible in the future for programmmers to do that somewhat. I read recently that there are people out there who are working on robots that may be able to adopt and learn through human interaction. I read a post in the past on this site that kensairyu posted about how he made a customize smarter dragon who will be able to know which of your charactor is most dangerous and then concentrate attacks on that individual (i.e a mage who is about to cast chain contingincy with 3 horrid wiltings.) If the programmers had more time I think they would make opponents much tougher.
I remember the arcade games that I watch people play in the past, where once you kill the final boss, you have to fight a much tougher version of that boss (or even kangaxx). But, it would be interesting if programmers are able to insert two or three random second boss possibilities that would manifest itself based on what your party did to defeat it the first time taking into account your partie strengths and weaknesses. Kind of like a computer chess program. This way you can't totally prepare your party through reloading.

Yin and Yang balance. There is one within the other. No Difference in Reality. What do you experience?

At some point in ToB,inside the Blue Dragon's lair, you encounter a band of lvl 1 wannabe "adventures" who agree to work 4 you,and then they try to take you out but fail miserably as your PC turns into the Slayer and rips their heads off After that the leader of the "adventurers" party RELOADS ! (you get the msg floating above his head),and then comes to you and brags about a +1 dagger he found or something

Or how about a multiplayer game where someone gets to be Irenicus? Think about it. Yu'd have to a) fight the Shadow guild b) fight the Cowled Wizards c) convince the Drow of free passage (by steeling some eggs) beat up elves, steal their magic lantern, set up a cable link to the Tree of Life all the while knowing you are slowly dying and you are being pursued by a band of adventurers you just know are getting stronger and stronger..
".I guess soldiers have been killing other soldiers quite a bit; I believe it is called war."
Actually, it's been done... Return of Werdna (when the Wizardry series was still white on black character graphics) put you in the role of the evil dude from Game 1 of the series, trying to escape you're own down and get the amulet back those adventurers stole from you in the first game of the series. You enemies were usually wandering adventurer parties.... cool concept. I still have the game but it's on a 5 1/4" disk.

Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2 are right up there for killing adventurer parties as well Your lair is regularly invaded by all kinds of parties with paladins, archers, thieves, wizards... Some kill, others just loot.

Just read through this thread - what great reading.
I'd love to go through the game as Irenicus. You could maybe even load in a party from one of your own saved games to do the chasing!
I also had a good laugh about the ToB spoiler above. Haven't got a copy yet - not available yet here in the UK - but I can't wait. The more I hear about it the better it gets.

My sanity is driving me mad
Seems to me alot of the major villians the the BG series get in effect a reload since you have to kill them repeatedly before you finally finish them: let's see..
Saravok: deaths 3 I believe, I'm counting the BG2 SOA Saravok as well.
Irenicus: 3 times again almost a forth but no thank god!
Spoiler below for ToB

Mellisan: 4 times she is the champ!
Anyone else think it was hilarious the way the voice actress for Mellisan said "Damn you!!"

If players could do that kind of thing on top of the reload cheese, you could finish the game with only two brain cells working. One to point, one to click...
