ummm...

I am probably the last person on the earth (aside from my 19m/o son) to be replying to this post, but I felt inclined, as I too would want answers if my game seemed to be as screwed as yours. I don't know if anyone can actually help you, but in order for anyone to try, you will need to give some more information, aside from you simply installing the game. What are your computer specifications? Do you have the appropriate programs on your computer to run it? Have you tried uninstalling it, and then reinstalling it? I'm not sure what to tell you, but if you give some more info on your part, someone else might be able to. Good luck, sweets.

Without any computer specifications, like processor, OS, graphic chipset, RAM and so on, nobody can help you with this issue.

It could be the video card. If it is as old as the bios (that is 2 1/2 to 3 years).
Have you got the latest drivers for it?
Can it run DirectX 9.0c?
Does it have the minimum of 64 meg ram onboard?

Yeah my thoughts too...Your graphic/video card might not be enough.

Since your graphic card is named "VIA Tech VT8361/VT8601 Graphics Controller" I assume it's an on board graphic controller (integrated into your mainboard). Those on board graphic cards usually share their memory with your computer's RAM.. which is never good and causes lots of problems with 3D-Games like Bloodlines.

Check on your system's hardwareprofiles, graphic/video card, it should tell you which kind of card your computer uses. Even if it won't state how much RAM it uses, if it tells you the product name, search for it at Google, to get the info about the RAM.
If you have a Systemstool ( i.e. Aida System Information ) you can check it for all relevant info too.

Sorry that I have to say it, but how could you buy a product if you didn't know if it ever will work on your PC ? I mean, System Requirements on the product aren't published just for fun.

Awww....now that sucks.....

I think her CPU and RAM should be enough to play the game, it isn't perfect and probably will be slow but it should work. The big deal will be the graphic/video card. Those integrated onboard chips usually suck, even if it has 64 MB RAM, try to persuade your friend to buy a better one. She won't need a high end, expensive one, but something like an ATI Radeon 9700 with 128 MB RAM should be enough and won't cost that much anymore.

It sometimes helps to stop all other programs running, like an Instant Messenger or another not needed software during gameplay. Sometimes that can make the difference....

graphics cards

my 256Mb was about £80 (sterling) - and TBH the 128 just about coped.

try adjusting detail settings and turning off other b/g progs before loading.

getting updated drivers is always important.

be prepared for regular CTD though!

One thing that I find helpful is to cancel running programs on your cpu. Hit crt, alt, delete. Then, do the following. First, identify how many users are using your computer. For example, only I use my computer so my programs are running. Under the programs list, the programs running on your computer will list a name on the side, like (Jason) or whatever you put in. Cancel all of the programs running by you, and other names, except for explorer and systray. (Some of the other programs that should stay running may be run by: System, Network, and Local Services.... Those should not be a major problem.....) I found that canceling 20 programs reduces what the cpu has to run off of. It made my game a little smoother and reduced the chance of the game crashing by a lot...... I hope that is a cheap fix to your problem..........
