So close to MALAK, yet so far away (((Spoiler)))

Post by dinaboo »

Just joined. Howdy, all!

I may well be an idiot on this one. Feel free to judge for yourselves. ;-).

I just defeated & turned Bastilla back to the light side, and after the short Malak cut scene, now I'm being attacked by the droids just outside Malak's door on the Star Forge.

For the life of me, I can't find a way to disengage the auto-targeting system. The problem is that I can't approach the computer consoles or computer spike bins, because the game forcibly orients me toward one of the droids. When I finally get to one, I can stand right next to the console, but the "open" or "use" option isn't available on the far left of the action menu. Only "attack."

I tried to find a way to disengage the targeting in one of the menus, and no luck. I searched every KOTOR forum I could find, and nobody else seems to have this problem, which makes me think that I've missed something simple.

Please help. Thanks!

PC or XBOX version?

You have to press the cancel button... for the XBOX, it is the red B button. That will cancel combat with those droids and allow you to slice into the computers. It's a little frustrating but get used to it.

Or.. you can bash through the door before the droids engage you...

Hey, whatever floats your boat.
In the end, everything will be alright. If it is not alright, it is not the end.

If you've got autopause enabled, get rid of it for now, and disengage from combat. Run around and use the consoles to turn off the droids. If you don't have enough computer spikes, kill some droids and collect them from the bins beside the terminals.
If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.
