Weapons (Possible Spoiler)
Hey, I'd like some opinions. What is the best type of weapon and why? Not, the best weapon.

Long Blades. More variety than blunts, faster to wield than axes and spears, more damage than short blades. Lots of good ones to be had, with a variety of enchantments.

In morrowind or real life?
Most people would say that Long Blade's are best weapon.. becuse of many good artifacts.. But if you care more about your character looks (like me) weapons like spears and halberds will win.
But in real life.. my vote would go to hammers and flails.. learning to use such weapons is harder than learning to use swords.. (i know from experience but i wasn't good with any of those weapons sword was just little bit easier.)
Just image this battle.. two warriors fightning against each other..
other has sword and other has flail.. in my mind winner would be the fail user.. but since i am not expert on medieval ´figtning styles and armors i could be wrong.

I've never used weapons in reallife, but I suppose if I had a choice, it would be a Kalashnikov AK-74.
Humor aside, hammers and flails rely a lot upon upper body strength and maneuverability. Shorter swords can be more versatile, and don't require strength to wound or kill. But you better be agile and well-protected, or you could end up dead, very quickly.
I'd look in the game for Daedric weapons to enchant, Genetic. They can hold quite a charge, and with a weapon, you don't need a constant effect; just something that will work "upon strike."

Have you seen movie called ''J'ean something''? That french girl who kicked butts of those britts..?
I wish Morrowind comabt would be more like in that movie.. but perhaps in TES4 combat will little bit more like in that movie. Yes flails and hammers require brute strength.. but one guy killing everyone in one blow isn't any boost for enemy morale..
But then Spears aren't good unless used in big formations.. such as ancient greek ''falang''(is that right spelling? Becuse in Finnish it is falangi.)
But then there is quite many scary weapons such as scythe and halberd.. those require some space.. but when you get one those weapons in move.. those long blade fans will consider twice before attacking that type weopen user..

Interesting: the word is cognate to the English "phalanx," too. Both our languages used the same source.

If it's wielded well, and in an area where the user is protected from behind. I think that's where the Swiss got their excellent idea for halberd-wielding guard formations. There's a fine display of about thirty from the German states at Philly's Museum of Art, not too far from us. Some of the grips have ornate inscriptions, but the blades are all worn. Those things saw service.

Not too far from us, meaning my wife and I. It is a common use of the term "us" to imply a familial unit in the English language. I realize Finland and Philadelphia aren't within easy driving distance of one another.
What brought it to mind is that Philly tends to see itself as a second-rate city, but it has a surprisingly good arms and armor exhibit thanks to the donations of one wealthy enthusiast from the early part of the 20th century. When I used to work for several years in a text-based MMORPG I went there and described several of the more fascinating weapons and armor suits on display. They're the kind that's obviously for show, with splendid workmanship; but there are also grim, fascinating items whose wear shows they did plenty of service.

All weapons have advantages and disadvantages IRL. If they didn't have advantages, they wouldn't have been made, and without disadvantages everyone would have used them.
In Morrowind though, I like Long Blades, sometimes short blades, and if you have a skilled character with a high strength, large blunts and axes can be devastating..

Darts are fine too. You can throw a lot of 'em real quick and that means you can stop almost any mage from casting spells at you. Of course darts aren't as powerful as arrows (especially those from a daedric longbow
). Then again, some of the most powerful weapons in Tribunal are darts.
She says: Lou, it's the Beginning of a Great Adventure
i am more of the "old fashioned" type i have will hardly ever use any other melee weapon other then a nice two-handed sword. I dont really like blunt weapons much at all, nor do i see why i would think twice before attacking a person with them.
"War does not determine who is right, it determines who is left"
Originally I had a short sword, then with my other character I had a long blade, and I am now trying out marksman weapons. I think the throwing knives are cool, darts are strong but I don't use them because they don't look good
I think in real life that bows would be the best, provided you were a good deal apart from your opponent or you had some fellas protecting you. In Morrowind bows aren't that great (at least as far as I have experienced) so I would just say, whatever did the greatest damage, I don't know which type though

*cough* Daedric Longbow? *cough* Have you found that thing yet? In the hands of a skilled marksman it is deadly...even with chitin arrows.
It looks pretty good too

A great way for bows to work well is to enchant an item with constant effect: Bound Longbow. it does 2-50 damage. every time it is damaged you can just take the ring off and put it back on again, no repairing needed. another good strategy for marksman users is to have a constant effect levitate item so you can hover above the enemy and shoot him
On another note for the marksman skill, is it possible to enchant a bow to have unlimited ammo?

Well Long Blades are fine and all, but my choice for the best weapon would be blunt. Because the staffs (ebony and deadric) have the most enchantment points of any weapon and can thus be enchanted to do some serious hurting.
For the coolness factor though I would go with Long Blades because I love the Crescent sword.

... i am not sure.. but there is plugin wich will replace ''bound spear'' with ''bound arrow'' but then.. those old mods can be hard to find.
But since lack of better things to do you can find such plugin in Morrowind Summit..
It is called as ''Assassin's Answered Prayer'' and it was made by ''Patryn''
