Soft shadows problem

Post by deniska »

Hello. I've encountered the following graphics problem:
When i set "soft shadows" option in advanced graphics options on I experience a drastic FPS dropdown when leaving the Dantooine landing place and heading towards the fields. If i set this option off everything looks ok. With this option on FPS starts dropping down as i head towards the exit from the landing zone and stucks completely when i enter the fields.
My video card is Saphire X800XT with latest catalyst drivers from ATI.
Thanks in advance... would appreciate any help!

Not sure really, but try the following:

1. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your card
2. Make sure you exceed the minimum requirements
3. Turn off background programs
4. Run defrag
5. Make sure you're not running in a higher resolution than your desktop
6. Turn v-sync off
7. Turn down some other settings like resolution, anti-aliasing

Not much, but hope it helps.

I had the same problem with a similar setup. I emailed Lucas Arts tech support, and they told me to put a line in my config file that disables vertex shading--I've not had one problem since then, but I'm not getting all of the graphical features that came with the game. But to be honest, I haven't really noticed a difference.
Good things come to those that wait--but only what's left over from those that hustle.

There are multiple threads on this forum concering ATI and Dantooine.
Solutions range to disableing some stuff in the setup to overriding the OpenGL driver by placing an older version in a folder in the game, right to disableing effect in the .ini file.
