Trying to create a character I've visualized...

Post by Skuld »

Well since I've reaplaced my old x-box I decide to give the GOTY edition another whirl, but this time I want to play an imperial instead of a wood elf. I want this character to be kind of a city type of person. More or less a rouge that dosn't need to resort to sneaking and relies more on personality, and the ability to backup his words with his sword. I want him to basically be proficient in combat(no shield), but also able to be able to steal anything his employers may request, talk any merchant down, and have a silver tongue for the general purpose of attaining whatever he needs from whomever he needs without having to resort to combat. Oh, and I want nothing to do with magic. I tried last time to use a few magic skills and for me at least I'd like to go though the first time without magic if necessary. Skills I defiantely want are Speechcraft, Mercantile, Security, Long Blades, and Block(I've heard this may not be the best chouce though). I'm just not sure what kind of armour would be good for this character, if I should use a back-up weapon type, or how to arrange these skills and which stats t take. I hope you all can help a chronic restarter, from making it past the first town. Thanks.

Unless I'm missing something, Block is worthless as a skill if you don't use a shield. Personally, even if I go for a "non magic" type character I still throw in restoration. It'll speed up recovery times at the least and chances are will keep you alive far more often having the ability to heal yourself. If you do end up avoiding magic, Atronach sign should be perfect for you to give you spell absorption so you have less to worry about with enemies and magic.

Some of the most fun characters I've ever done were a sniper type build. I'd jump onto roofs and unload into a crowd with spells and a bow. The guards would die by the time they found a route to get to me, if it was possible for them.

Oh, I'm one of those constant restarter's too. I just kill people in towns and don't bother with quests. :p
"You can do whatever you want to me."
"Oh, so I can crate you and hide you in the warehouse at the end of Raiders?"
"So funny, kiss me funny boy!" / *Sprays mace* " I know, I know, bad for the ozone"

If you won't use a shield you could take marksman instead of block. And although you don't want to use magic, I'd highly advise one or two magicskills as minors. For a rogue I'd say illusion and/or mysticism.
Also, I've found that security is often useless without sneak. The ability to open locks means nothing if you're seen doing it.
