If you like a good rpg for its story then yes, you should. If you like open-endiness in an rpg, yes.If you think it's the best rpg ever, its not.

Really I thought it was a great game, it just wasnt what I expected it to be. I thought it would be like morrowind/final fantasy, but it wasnt. Youve probably already heard all this, but for a good game that youll play twice or three times, its worth it.Just dont expect it to be the best rpg ever.

An extremely short (10-15 hours) RPG, pretty conventional and uninteresting. For what it's worth, I would sooner recommend Morrowind.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

First off, there is no question the game is overrated. The storyline is mediocre, the NPC interaction is limited, and the game is insanely short (I'd say 20-25 hours tops, and that's an extremely leisurely pace where you're trying to find everything without the help of a walkthrough and playing lots of boring mini-games).

As long as you understand and will not be too thoroughly disappointed by these factors, it can be an enjoyable little game. Combat is entertaining, if easy. The customization angles (both in terms of character attributes and less pivotal things such as hair style, tattoos, marriages, buying property) are entertaining, as well. The extensive character sheet allows you to set unusual goals for yourself. Moreover, the game is quite pretty and carries a very unique feel to it for an RPG. The storyline isn't great (and it certainly needed a half dozen more twists and turns than it had), but it’s not bad. In my estimate, the voice acting and numerous video sequences were all very well done and worthwhile.

My inclination is that with increased NPC interaction and a storyline of about twice its actual length, it would have been an excellent role-playing game (For that reason, I do have higher hopes for the second game, which I imagine will have more content). As it stands now, its an entertaining, but ultimately unsatisfying game. Personally, I did enjoy it for what it was, in a way that I haven't been able to enjoy games like Morrowind (though I'm trying real hard to like that game as much as everyone says I should...).

So, in my estimate, if you can get it at a good price its definitely worth trying out. Likewise, its one of the few RPGs I'd recommend renting, mainly because of the fact that its *that* short. You could beat it in a couple days of serious play.

too short...

i jus think it was too short. if the game was longer and there was more to do, i wouldve chosen that it was a great game. anyways, i think its better than halo2 (hard to believe)

fable...

it's a good game, not one of the best around, but still a good game...

very hard to compare to anything else really, as there aren't many games with the same style of RPG play involved... many compare it to The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind... which by far is the best RPG of it's style...

but Fable is an RPG of it's own style, inheriting very little from it's RPG brothers and sisters, it's not your typical RPG... so try not to think of that, if and when you buy it! =)

i recommend Fable, a top game with some amazing graphics and smooth gameplay... i'm a huge RPG fan, and i found it among my top fave games!

also, it's a must for those wanting to get into the RPG scene!

if this is a 10-15 hour rpg then i must be quite simply a very good gamer as my fastest completion of the game is 8hrs and 17mins

Well, I think we're referring to first run throughs. I imagine the game is easily completed in under 10 hours once you know what you're doing, and skip various video sequences. In my estimate, an average gamer who enjoys a moderate to leisurely pace, will spend at least 15 hours on it the first time through (probably more like 20ish). Once you remove the surprise and learning curve factors, that speeds it up quite a bit (as it does any game).

I love this sucker... I've got about 12 different profiles and I'm still not bored.... yes it is a short RPG but that's perfect for a guy like me who works 6 days a week 11 hours a day... I can't even begin to think of playing Morrowind.. I've heard ppl saying it takes them 6 months to finish the game... it'd probably take me a couple of years to even get the idea of what the game is all about (not that I really care to play it... I did try it but after 3 hours of game play I was bored to hell... and the graphics... oh my... no way no how) so you can see why does Fable fit me perfectly.

I did not get mine at full price but I would certainly not mind paying the $50 bucks for it had I rented it... the game is just worth a while.

In regards to the first run... it took me about 11+ hours to get rid of Jack but played the game for about 54 hours... I got all the suits.. all the weapons... all the property.. you name it :D it was a lot of fun he he!

If you have the $50 bucks then get it... otherwise get it used thru Amazon or Ebay... or even a friend :D happy Fabling!!

when

Well i might not get it because if the second one coems out soon then what's the point(unless you have to follow the story). When does the second one come out or around when does it.

fable 2...

Fable 2 won't be out for a while, so it's worth buying Fable, just in case anything loops over from the first!

the so-called "Fable 2" for the PC is actually the original Fable, just with extra stuff they couldn't put on the Xbox... good if you own a PC...

if you are on an internet forum then you either have a pc or a mac
most likely a pc because macs are quite terrible

macs...

lol i wouldn't have a bloody clue what to do on a Mac =| very confusing...

but yeah, i'm not really bothered about Fable being on PC, i think it's a good thing, spanning the market a little y'know... i wouldn't buy it myself, even for the extra content, just wait until the new Fable for Xbox comes out... if and when!

I thought the game wasn't to bad. Its entertaining and I have friends who liked some of the content of it. Of course some of the content and gameplay wasnt the best but there are things to bring your interest to the game. Some of them are buying property, marriage, and if you wanted you could just go in and slaughter towns if you got bored. The other thing is that you can try differnt styles of characters. I thought that made things different in the game. I like the fact that I could play through as a nice warrior then next an evil mage.

My recommendatiom is buy a used copy at your favorite game retailer. I bet you can get a used copy for about $20-30 easily. And most like you will enjoy the play.

PC gaming is a completelly different world, I work in front of a computer all day.. by the time I get home the last thing I want to do is sit in front of another computer.. yes! even if it is to play.. believe it or not it is a subconcious thing.. I've never liked computer gaming anyhow.. it may have quite a few advantages over regular game consoles but it is just not the same.. just not.

Anyhow.. back to the forum's actual subject.. I gave you my opinion already Whanley123 but I thought you migh want to know I just got myself the original game in ebay for $13 bucks shipping included.. now I haven't gotten it in my hands yet but according to the seller it is a new one and it is the limited edition, the one with the DVD interview with Peter M. which isn't being sold in stores anymore.. we'll see.. I'll post once again when i get it (hoping I didn't go wrong here) :D

So you see.. you can still get it for a fair price, you just need to look around.

Yo! OB and Fable... I hope I'm not walking over any rules by mentioning the prices and the place I got it at :D ... hey hey.. a brotha gotz 2 b careful nowadays not to say nothing that can get mois banned :p he he peace out.
