hmm, i'd say it depends on what magical equipment you have for him to use, or what your party doesnt use, eg. if your fighters specialise in
-warhammers
-long swords
-axes
-bows

then maybe give him points in katana so he can use something like celestial fury.

or if you want him with a little range, you could put points in sword & shield, and have him use a throwing axe with a shield
-If Superman can wear his underwear outside his pants why cant I?
-If bugs bunny can run around naked or in womans clothing why cant I?

If you intend to play Throne of Bhaal and you don't have any other Fighters in your party, you might consider giving Korgan proficiency points in halberds. There are some nice axes in Throne of Bhaal, but there's a really great halberd that you might want to let Korgan wield. I don't know how many more proficiency points you can give him, but if you give him points in halberd, then you would also want to give him proficiency points in Two-Handed Weapon Style.

Otherwise, choose an off-hand weapon that would give Korgan special bonuses (such as Belm or Defender of Easthaven) and give him proficiency points for that kind of weapon.

look, first of all, how stupid wouldn´t i be if i gave korgan points in halberd when i allready has 3 slots in 2weapon style... Second, Axe of the Unyielding +5 is on of the best weapons in the game so obviosly he will use it in his main hand. And besides, if I want to use Ravager and play with and Evil party (since korgan is evil i thought it was obviously i did) then I would let Serevok equip it. I need help desiding if i should let him use long swords (Angurvadal) or Bastard swords (Purifier) or shimitars (Belm), or maybe War Hammers (Runehammer) or Flails (Defender of easthaven). The other fighters in my party is myself (kensai/mage) who are weilding foa and crom fayer, and Haer'Dalis who wields sword of the mask for the moment, but since he allready has a slot in short swords from the start and only are able to put one slot in other weapon styles have turned out with some in everything...

Or, if nobody else uses two handed swords, make him proficient on that. I've done that myself too. ;)

Give him something to boost atacks. Or give him hammers anyway, and use something on the off hand - even without proficiencies.
Flesh to stone ain't permanent, it seems.

Oh, you should have said that. :)

Scratch Purifier off your list (Korgan is not a Paladin), but consider Foebane, which can be upgraded very early in Throne of Bhaal, just like the Axe of the Unyielding. The thing about Angurvadal and the Runehammer is that they aren't available (or can't be upgraded) soon enough, in my opinion. If you put proficiency points in warhammers or longswords, they'll go to waste for much of the game. You can get Belm and Defender of Easthaven very early in the game, so you could be using them all along. Their bonuses (an extra attack or damage resistance) seem more useful to me than the one offered by Foebane (a +1 saving throw bonus and an ability that won't get used much if it's in your off-hand), so I think you should narrow your choice down to Scimitars or Flails. In my opinion, there aren't any bastard swords or warhammers worth getting besides Foebane (the upgrade comes too late in the game), Purifier (restricted to Paladins), Crom Faeyr (in use), Runehammer (too late), or the Dwarven Thrower (not a weapon I'd choose for a Berserker).

So as I said earlier, if you don't meet the conditions I mentioned in my first paragraph, then choose Belm or Defender of Easthaven.
