I am currently soloing a Druid at the beholderquest. I thought the scroll of protection from magic should make me immune to all beholderrays but when I fight them I keep dying, I don't know from what. I tried this a few times and it's allways the same thing - they keep beaming at me and the dialogbox fills up with "spell ineffective", I checked their different rays and this seems to be the case for all rays (antimagic ray included). Still I allways die, is there a percentagechance that their antimagic ray dispels my prot from magic or what is this?
Hmm, beholder rays are treated somewhat differently from magic. Maybe they didn't properly program here. It's a bug then. Use the Shield of Balduran instead.

Anti-Magic ray ignores magic resistance, but the rest does not, if I'm not mistaken. I'll try it out for the next Beholder AI update.
Shield of Balduran makes you totally invulnerable to un-Smart Beholders. Elder Orbs can still catch you with their spells, though (but those are not in the Unseeing Eye quest).

I'm playing a shapeshifter so I can't use the shield, it's not really a problem to defeat the beholders it's just that I really thought the scroll would make me immune and now I wonder why I'm not. Unfortunately I never see what kills me since the game just jumps to the sinking hand.
You hardly ever get to know what kills you in solo... Usually Domination, I guess... maybe Death Ray.

According to Baldurdash, there si a bug - beholder death ray ignores protection from magic (according to the designers, ti shoudl not). The patch is available there.
