I was trying out Projected Images using a chain contingency or regular contingency, and I was getting the weirdest thing. I had Aerie, Jan and Nalia all cast images, and then had the images cast contingencies. In every case, the spell list that comes up for the spell is Haer Dalis' spell list, not the caster's. So Aerie does not show any cleric spells, etc. Just Haer Dalis' spells, exactly. The images have the correct spells for regular casting, this only shows up in the contingency screen.
Then, when the image's contingency goes off, the spells cast on Haer Dalis, not on the image. So if Nalia's image casts Stoneskin, Imp Invis. and Mirror Image, to cast on sight of enemy, when her image sees an enemy, the spells all appear on Haer Dalis, even if he is elsewhere on the map.
I kicked HD out of the party, and then the image's spell lists just come up blank when they cast contingency. So, weird bug, although I am OK with not using the Project/Image/Contingency for now since it is cheesy anyway. I just wanted to set up Nalia's image so that she could cast a Chain Contingency and summon 3 demons instantly or whatever. Or a Wyvern, a Carrion Crawler, and a Spider....that's a funny set of summons
Thanks if anyone knows what's up.
Another thing I was trying to do was cast Spell Immunity from a Contingency, so that images could get up SI: Divination quickly, or stuff like that. I haven't had much luck with it though. When the contingency fires, it gives you the option there to choose the school of immunity, but it doesn't pause the game like a regular cast, so if you miss it it's wasted. Then, when you select a school, the caster still takes a round to get the Immunity up, just as long as a regular cast would take, and quite interruptable .
My favorite contingency is Tenser's though, it casts instantly just like you need when you are right in the middle of a fight. I don't really like putting stoneskin or blur, mirror image etc in contingency or sequencer though, since they cast basically instantly anyway, especially stoneskin. The sequencer that I like is Aerie at 15th level cleric using a contingency to summon 3 skeleton warriors instantly....reminds me of Baldur's Gate 1 and those squads of skeletons you could summon.
On another note, I just joined this board. I used to hang around here in 2000 and 2001 when I was playing Baldur's Gate 2 a lot. I got back into the game recently and it's amazing to see a community still going for the game after all this time, including some of the old timers I used to see around here. BG2 really is a great one, and it helps to have people to discuss it with, since some of the strategies are so complex and the game is so big..
