Are you using the graphical client?

If you are, double clicking the icon on the system tray should bring you up with a screen... should give you an indication of what its doing.

Yes I am, it's on step 107, and still says it's using none of my cpu. So, it is doing something, it's just not registering as using any of my cpu yet when I open my task manager.

It must be downloading the data and prepping the machine I suppose. When it actually starts folding it will come up with "Frames completed:" followed by some stats. Should also get a little pie chart showing the progress in the current frame.

Should also get "Working..." in the bottom left corner, those are the best indications I can give of when it actually starts operating.

That's what I figure, it's not having the pie chart or a progress thing. Just that 'waiting for core' and 'step <#>' under 'Finished WU's'.

I just was wondering if there was something wrong or not, if it's fine then that's great and I'll just let it run and wait. I suppose I'll find out eventually if it finishes what it's doing or just stays like that.

Either good karma is giving me the finger, or somethings screwy. It's been trying to connect and failing for hours. I went through the log and just hours and hours of attempts and failures like so...

Can't help you with that one :( . Have you given the app full access to the internet (if you have a firewall/router etc.)?

I'm suprised more SYMers haven't decided to partake in Folding@home :(

Yes, make sure of that. I just shut the thing off since it wasn't working. :(

It works now. Whatever made it freeze and not connect to the server fixed itself.

Does it really? I see no noticeable effects whatsoever. Even when playing CPU intensive games.

Yeah, I had it turned up to use close to 100% of my CPU. It's fine once I have programs up and running, it's when I open new programs and such that it bogs down. I just turned the settings down to where the default was at, I'll see what that does. :)

I hadn't seen this before. I think I have downloaded it and I think it is working. No pi charts, though. It seems to think a work unit might be finished in November. Would that be right ?

That's probably the deadline you're looking at - you'll be likely to finish the work unit much earlier. How fast you finish it depends on how fast your machine is and how often it's running. The deadline is set arbitrarily by the server depending on how big the WU is.
Vicsun, I certainly agree with your assertion that you are an unpleasant person. ~Chanak

Heh, I didn't see this before. Well since I've been doing this for SETI for quite a while now, why not do this in turns as well ... Ashen_Shugar here.

Hmph ... it's going to take forever to finish one it seems but hey :D
And He whispered to me in the darkness as we lay together, Tell Me where to touch you so that I can drive you insane; tell Me where to touch you to give you ultimate pleasure, tell Me where to touch you so that we will truly own each other. And I kissed Him softly and whispered back, Touch my mind.
