Stuck: Trial of the Ancients

Post by kanz »

I think i read somewhere about a bug if u save in certain rooms in the trial then the doors will shut behind you when u load the game. Please tell me if this is the case for me or if i'm just not doing something right:

I'm in the room w/ a walkway suspended above water, there are blue teleporters that bring elven archers in. I saved right before i jumped in the water incase i couldnt get back out, which seems to be the case. Can anyone tell me what to do in this room? I fear that I hit the save bug and will have to restart the game since its my only save :(

Thanks

there is no bug in this room as far as i know.
anyway, the trick here is to step on each blue circle from where the spirits spawn and if you fall into the water than go to the first doorway and there's a platform that will raise up. I think it's either on the right or left side of the doorway. i don't remember.

anyway, it's a good idea to always save before trying a room whether it's in this trial of the elders or some other dungeon. With some of the bugs in this game one can never be too safe.

Hey thanks for the tip :)

I guess I should mess around a bit more before giving up and running to the forums for help.

Trial of the Ancients

You have to complete the Trial without saving. If you save during the Trial you cannot complete it.

^^^ That's not true. I saved and reloaded quite a few times and it worked fine for me. I think there's only one room that messes up with saves, and that's the one with the ghost mage and the spurts of fire and the elevators that go up after you kill everything.

I did save the game, loaded it several times, 'coz couldnt beat the banshee in the second room. :(

Though i didn't save it during the last trial - i've read that it provokes bugs in the game.

I saved and reloaded in each room a bunch of times so i dont think there is a bug. And heres a suggestion just ignore the spirits that form and hit the blue runes they will stop forming when u hit both of them. And you should save before u enter each room just get in the habit of doing it. Saves you alot of time and frustration.

The only room where you cannot/should not save is the last one (fire spouts) as otherwise the platform does not descend. In all other rooms you can save as much as you want

Sorry but you will have to go back to an earlier saved game or, hope/pray that the next patch solves the problem

I suspect that fixing the trial problem will involve changing what the game saves (since it apparently isn't saving the trial status). If that's the case, then I wouldn't be surprised if the solution comes in the 1.3 patch rather than the 1.2 patch, since the 1.3 changes will also change how saved games work.

That is, if you like the game then you should probably start over.

Stuck in 1st Room with Columns

I've read the tips on how to complete this room. I've killed the elder, and have activated both pressure plates. However I can't seem to make the jump from the center pillar to the 2nd to last pillar heading up to the North Ledge and exit from this room. Any tips/tricks I'm not picking up? Thanks! :)

Is the jump at least close to working? If not, you might have activated the pressure plate twice, sending the pillar back to its original position.

If it's close, then just keep trying. I think in one of the jumps to the north you have to catch a pillar with your hands and pull yourself up (your character should pull itself up automatically, but it means there isn't a lot of room for error).

RE: SWCarter

Thanks for the reply and yes I'm close...he "almost" grabs the pillar with his hands for the pull up but just misses each time. I've tried to move myself to the "edge" of the pillar I'm on just south of the target pillar to help, but still seem to just keep missing. Is there any trick to the jumps? (I've been doing them obviously on other ones...but with little to no margin for error, perhaps I'm not doing something 100% right....thanks again for the reply :)

I didn't have any problem with the jumps, so maybe there's something else going on. Have you taken any points in athletics? Is your equipment causing you a penalty?

If you have one of those crystals that slows down time, you could try that.

That was my thought too...there is something else wrong (another bug perhaps?). I've got 5 in acrobatics and have tried it with and without armor and weapons and shield on without any success. All of the pillars before this one were "one level" higher than the one I was on or level. Currently I'm looking at one that is "two levels" higher than the one I'm on...making me think that the pillar didn't lower enough when the pressure plate was pressed? Dunno, but very frustrating either way....again thanks for your continued help :) . I do not have a crystal that slows time down unfortunately.
