The girl had your mobile, and still the intern who called knew it was a girl who used to phone, and perhaps even knew her name? Scary. Somebody who knew these girls must have given this information. So, did they try to convince the girls to become friends with them or what? It's not uncommon that interns try to get in touch with people of the opposite gender on the outside in order to manipulate them to help them with different things, but randomly phoning girls you don't at all know sounds very strange.
Well, my friend never actually accepted the call's, as collect call's from prison's are extremely expensive and I'm paying for the phone. She did bring it up in her class though, becuase one of the call's came in during her class. Two of her classmate's perked right up and said they'd had the same things happen to them that week two. One, the next day came in saying someone from that same number had called her at home and asked for her by name. All of the inmate's mentioned their name's, different one's, had differen't voices as they played the messages for each other. They all, said they were calling because of a new "buddy system" and mentioned it being like a pen pal thing. Somehow, they got the number's for these girls, along with their full names. Not through a phone book either, as those number's were mostly cell phones and MY cell is in my mother's name, and the guy knew the girl who was using it by her first and last name.

I was pissed off at that kind of breach of privacy, on my friend and myself. I have a feeling someone may have been in that school and went to prison and had stolen one of the class lists from the school. Either that, or they are doing some very wierd things in prison now. Either way, I was quite irritated and more than a bit worried of the why behind that.

He is not, it's only the way he chooses to appear here at SYM. IRL he is less forgiving and less tolerant that I am :p

You know Magrus,
you and your friends might want to consider contacting the police.... What you describe all sounds more than a little disquieting...

This is very unpleasant. I agree with DW, I think your friends should contact the police and report this, it would be even better if they saved the messages these interns left so they could be identifiable by voice. I have no idea what they were after, but it doesn't have the sound of an harmless joke.

I concur. They definately need to tell the authorities about this, mate - I'd be worried for your friends' safety
I sincerely wish we could re-consider this plan from a perspective that involved pants.

The closest things the police do for work around here is sit on their thumbs and twist.

That's another pet peeve of mine. Police afraid to do their jobs. My friends and I handed the police witnesses to my friend being raped and they sat on the evidence, never bothered to contact the witnesses. Now, 5 guys are walking free and gloating they raped a virgin last August and got away with it.

The guys stopped calling once they realized no one would actually answer the phone calls. One girl did and wanted to know why some odd person from prison was calling her cell phone and the guy explained it. He said he'd been given her name, number and told to call and she was his new phone pal. She told him to piss off and he apologized and she said he was very polite about and sounded sad. He didn't call again. Somehow, that kind of makes me think this wasn't some creepy thing done up by inmates, but something else done with the system.

Either way, I gave up on police. I deal with my own problems, and thats how most other people have turned around here. The sheriff of the county seat here has his hands in the coke business, and the cops around here are afraid to do more than ticket people. The only time they get involved with drunk people beyond ticketing them is when they drunks start a fight first. They won't actually go after a disturbance call anymore. Scary, isn't it?

One wonder if somebody is making a business out of this and use both the interns and the schoolgirls? What about contacting the prison? They must have some administrative boss or whatever.

Well, my aunt was married to a prison guard in the major prison around here, Attica. The place is somewhat famous, you might have heard about it. Riot and inmates taking over the prison years back and killing the guards? If the head of the prison at this place, is anything like the heads of that prison...nothing good would come of it. The place is corrupt, my former uncle had some stories he refused to discuss, but he was a very, very bad alcoholic and some holidays he'd let one or two slip.

The girls haven't had any calls in about 2 months now, so unless something else happens, they won't be calling anyone and they've all gotten rid of the messages by now. Not much that can be done anymore.

Im sorry if I have annoyed you Frogus, It have never been my intention to do so.

Also, please pay no attention to C Elegans, she doesn't really mean what she says. She has a lot of work right now and might be a little bit confused. Poor girl.

General Peeve Section

All right, as the title says, this is where you can post anything that you prolly just HATE to the core. The rules are simple.
-Flaming, vulgarities, sexism, racism, belittling, and all other things in this sense isn't allowed. This is a thread about peeves like-

"I hate my bloody computer bacause it died and I had to reformat it."
or
"I hate winter, and anything cold."

Stuff, as I am sure won't be tolerated by GB, like "I hate this member (Insert screen name) because he's a (Insert profanity) and he deserves to be banned."

So with that in mind, what my peeves are.

-My CPU died and the reformat had to occur (160 GB harddrive and 90 of it was used)
-Summer (I like to be cool. Hey, I'm kinda fat.)
-Trollers
-Sweat
-Hotel sheets (You have no idea what is/has been on them.)
-Drinking. (I hate beer and its taste/smell/overall danger if overused. Though, what isn't dangerous anymore)
-This war
-Atom Bombs
-Pessimism
-Hypocrisy
-People who try to be non-conformists that are conformists with each other (I.E. a lot of wannabe [note: not actual] Goths try to stick to non-conformity and they end up conforming with each other. Such a paradoxal)
-Necropheliacs
-(Now, I respect ALL religions so read carefully) people who try to convert me to there religion and then call me blasphomeous or a heathen for being a buddhist.
-My autism (Namely Asperger Syndrome)
-People with the lack of motivation to make a living
-How people have there deaths other than natural (I.E. Suicide, Genocide, Homocide [not at all blaming them for homocides and genocides])
-Ciggaretes (SP?)
-Sphaghetti
-Meat, Dairy, and other things ascociated with this. I am a vegan.
-People who conform to be another person instead of being themselves. -Namely, the Seventeen Magazine did this without hesitation.
-S&M
-Rape
-My crappy old forum that died. (won't go any further than that as to not break the rules)
-Any music other than Metal, Techno, or Industrial. ESPECIALLY Rap. I respect rap if it isn't (like half of all rap at least) about women, sex, there body parts, and the like. The only good rap song I have heard in my lifetime, is one done by a singer I loath. Eminem. The song is entitled "Lose Yourself."
-Fast food resturants. Mainly working at them.
-Cartoons based on profanity itself. (South park, Beavis and Butthead) I do, however, like good decent comedy like Famliy guy and Futurama.
-Hentai (Japanese animated porn)
-The color white.
-When my books aren't cared for. I have friends that eat greasy dripping pizza over my 30 DOLLAR Dungeons and Dragons books.
-My printer (No color)
-My speed on the internet. (I have Comcast which is about 2,000 times the speed of DSL and it acts like Dial-up.)

I guess I don't have much more I hate. Again, this is just a peeve section. I am sure the GB Mods wouldn't appreciate any bigotry towards people.

(If this isn't allowed, or if it has been done before, please Delete/Merge/whatever you guys need to do)

My biggest pet peeve is the fake teammate in recreational sports.

"Yeah yeah, I'm on your team" then you pass to them, and they laugh, because they're actually on the other team, but since there are no jersies or uniforms, you couldn't tell.

That really makes me angry.

Unnecessary advice and correction. If I go to someone with a simple question, or request, I expect a simple reply.

Non-Constructive critiscm. If I screw up, I know. Thanks for telling me.
You mean I'm not supposed to come to work late? Holy! thanks tons. Next time I'll ask traffic to go a little faster.

I hate needing a new video card every year.

I hate developing companies to neglect the use of infinity engine and its multiple possibilities.

I hate when some spam company discovers my mail addresses and sends me tons of "Enlarge your organs" mails.

I love this thread though :D

@ Sytze: we're on the same boat. I *dislike* CM too. :D :D :D
