Gargoyles and close range weapons

Post by jmima »

Worried about spoilers so will black this out...

Have been to King's Way to solve the whole Nosferatu warren yet when I go back to Isaac after I've done it all, he asks "You head to King's Way yet?" and I don't have the option to tell him that I have - I just get "am on my way" or "not yet". What have I missed out? Because this means I won't get the gargoyle or Ash quest doesn't it...?

ALSO! When I'm using the J'aime Sue and I press tab to get the close range, it's all wobbly even though I have about 6 on firearms... does it ever get more stable than this?

As far as I know the Ash Quest (Hunters Hunting) is not dependent on any conversation with Isaac. Just enter the Asp Hole, go to the first floor and talk to Ash.

Concerning the Gargoyle quest, I did that both times before the Warrens, so can't help you there. Check your log, is the King's Way Quest mentioned under completed? Otherwise you might have missed out on one or the other detail. Or maybe you only have the option of taking the gargoyle quest if you ask about it before the King's Way Quest.

Thanks for that - got the ash quest and the gargoyle quest now - don't know why though I still can't tell the dude that I've been up to kings despite it being the completed bit in the log... odd.

Jamie sue starts to get stable in sniper mode once your ranged feat gets up to about 8. If you get it up to 10, you can snipe your targets with pinpoint accuracy.

I always beat the gargoyle with the sledgehammer, myself. Just seemed natural.

I've only had to beat the gargoyle up once. It's much more fun to get him to side with Isaac, and if you're Tremere, you still get your haven at the Chantry. Maybe I'm just a closet romantic, but I have this image in my head of the Kuei-jin moving on Hollywood, and all of a sudden that thing taps them on the shoulder and says, "Excuse me, can I help you?" OK, I'm Canadian, and we're notoriously polite. The image is more along the lines of the gargoyle popping up behind them and smashing them into ashes while they debate about whether or not a mound of living stone can have a 'path'.

If I'm playing any other clan, and my persuade skill is high enough, I also take this route. It's just my personality. I always prefer compromise over conflict. However, if I'm Tremere... I feel compelled to go with clan loyalty and destroy it.

As a malkavian with 10 in persuasion I've always had to fight the gargoyle. Is this just because I've been picking the wrong lines, or are there in-game requirements (like not talking to Strauss, etc.)?

You pretty much have to talk to Strauss to get the gargoyle to side with Isaac. As far as I know, you just have to select the right lines. As a Malk, knowing which are the right lines might be a bit of a trick.

I just did this quest as a Malkavian. The gist of the Malkavian lines was discernable enough that choosing the right ones wasn't that difficult. Tell the gargoyle that you are there on behalf of the blood baron (Isaac), that he needs the gargoyle's help, and that he opposes the Tremere. That's all Stony wants to hear.

Thank you, this was one of the few places where the lines really confused me. Guess I'm not quite up to Malk standards yet :p
