Time travel

I'm at the Creator Ruins, I spoke to the Wild Mage and she gave me the book ant the Time Crystal yet I can't use it on the sun dials. How is it used? When I try to place it onto the sundial nothing happens. Is it a bug in the game? Please help!

Right-click the crystal.
Click on the Use.. picture (looks like a star).
A different cursor should appear.
Left-click on the sundial.
