[ToB spoilers] Third Ending for Aerie?
Sojourner,
I seemed to recall it did, but it has been a while since I have played BG 1 so I might be mistaken.
I think *my* point is valid though: It SHOULD. IF you go by ADnD 2nd Ed rules (as BG I and II are supposed to), then the use of any armor *including* helms, shields, etc is supposed to prevent a person from casting mage spells (the only exception being elven chain). This also applied to bards which was a major limitation on the class.
BTW, Jaheira ALSO breaks the PnP rules. Druids are NOT supposed to be able to wear metal armor *period* and still cast spells, dual, multi or no. Jaheira, however, can (and it took me a few games of SoA to figure that out because I was playing by PnP rules).

Alight people,
*Given* you can equip Aerie with helms and shields (which I honestly did not think you could), then yes she looks *better*. I think her biggest sin, however, are her low hits.
As for the romantic dialogs, I have done all four, and I found Aerie to be the *most* irritating (followed closely by Anomen). Aerie is immature; she whines constantly; she is insecure; she is needy; she is possessive....only with Aerie does sleeping with Phaere *automatically* end the romance...; and in general I find her to be a pain in the neck. During my last game, I got to the point where the next time she said, "My Love" I was ready to feed her to Demogorgon myself.
Of course none of the four are exactly stellar choices for romance (covered on another thread), but I prefer Jaheira (although she is far from ideal). At the very least Jaheira has backbone w/o being a jerk (like Vic).

At least she has Stoneskin and Mirror Image... Viconia and Minsc have sinful Hit Points as well (considering their classes), but lack even magical protection (not to mention that Minsc has lousy AC).Originally posted by polaris:

And you find that odd in a woman?Originally posted by polaris:

Do I find it odd that sleeping with someone else automatically ends the romance?
In normal cases, I should say no. In fact under NORMAL circumstances, Aerie's reaction would be the most normal....but they are NOT normal circumstances. Given the fact that (unless you are quick on your feat), the Pro seems to be faced with a situation of sleep with Phaere or die, this should be considered more akin to date-rape than anything else. I think it is completely reasonable that all three would be mad. *Under the CIRCUMSTANCES*, however, most stable and secure women would give their mate a second chance. Vic and Jaheira do; Aerie does not.

Super special undocumented Aerie only special ability.
Lets not forget the Secret special ability that only aerie posesses. As one of her fans, tho, I am sometimes reluctant to use it.
Every monster in the game, almost without exception, thinks of her as the yummiest food treat imaginable. In monster quarterly, she's featured on the front cover as
"Aerie, wingless elf, Dailey baths in milk since childhood, fondess for cinamon coockies, ginger snaps and white wine. Tasty and tender for umber hulks, mindflayer and dragons. five star rating and our vote as the tastiest adventureer in Faerun"
Just about every monster in the game goes automatically for her, licking its chops and screaming "Lunch!!!"
his makes her in boots of speed the perfect monster lure, I often send her into a room full of creeps and have her dash off chased by the ravening hordes to lure them into a preplanned magicl or trapped ambush. Its also amusing to hear her say "faster than chikkita fastpaws!" while she's being chased by a dozen monsters and she's outrunning spells and her blur cloak gives her the look of the road runner.

LOL, very good post! I myself constantly make use of Aerie, she's a good spellcaster, and her low HP can be cured by the Belt of Fortitude...Originally posted by UserUnfriendly:

Aerie will never have the slugging power of a pure mage or cleric, unless you decide to short Nalia, Viconia, etc. on the goodies. on the other hand, there is only ONE Crom Faer in the game, so you decide who gets it. On the other hand, two points are needed.
1) Barring one or two massive confrontations(Irenicus, final battle in TOB), you really shouldn't be gasping for every spell.
2) Aerie's edge is her versatility, ESPECIALLY combining spell sequencers and contingencies with clerical strikes. Imagine fighting the vampires and Aerie's contingency of multiple holy smites kicks in!
Great stuff to see!

Can Aerie cast Tensors (disable mage spells) and then cast Holy power (disables cleric spells) and then become the Avatar of doom and destroy every creature with CF? If so, she is awesome.
Also, I found Aerie's romance to be the most rewarding. Jaheira's sucks IMHO (items are good though). And as for Viconia, she is just too damn twisted for my good characters.
Aerie can pack almost as much punch as a Mage with sequencing cleric spells in addition to mage spells and she packs more punch than a normal cleric because she can use the sequencers! As for her low HPs... Before a battle gulp down those formerly useless potions of fortitude that you find everywhere or use the girdle of fortitude. Stoneskin, mirror image, blur and such also come in handy to avoid hits.

Another evil evil aerie only special ability....
Not really, but short of a custom cleric/mage multi, only she can do this.
cast cahin contingency, project image, x 3
target, self, condition, helpless
cast spell trigger 3 bolts of glory
spell sequence, holy smite.
rest.
face major demon, like demogorgon, cast project image. chain will fire, and you suddenly have 4 images, all with spell triggers and sspell sequencers active.
cast triggers and seq
12 holy smites and 12 bolts of glory later, move in your tanks to finsih him off.
Aerie is the best, and viccy is a close second, but more interesting dialogs.
solution: concurrent romance patch!
Had some customization problems with current game, reinstalling os, and this time I'll be using known good customization techs.
sigh.
Taking the lecherous harem party along.
Concurrent romance patch
bhaal powers

Me hacked sorc
jsheira

aerie
viccy
thief...yoshimo for now, imoen later
