Is the Imperial Legion really worth joining?
Does the legion give good rewards or should I join House Redoreon instead? Which one's a better choice?

You can join both. The Legion is basically like a guild, of which you can join any number. It are only the Great Houses that you must choose between.
To answer your question though, the Legion gives some interesting quests, and you can acquire some nice items as well. For fighter types, it is probably a much better bet than the actual fighter's guild (though again, you can join both).

If you are on the PC though, I would seriously reccomend considering downloadnig "The Imperial Legion Badge" This will mean you don't have to be wearing an imperial cuirass to do quests/talk to guards, which can be a pain.
