Rope of Entanglement
Does antone know how to use the Rope of Entaglement? This is potentially a VERY useful item, but I can't figure out how to use it in combat? I tried putting in my equipment slots, but it doesn't go to any of them. Does not show up on radial menues either.
HELP!!!!?????

bariumdose, why post such in a 2-year-old thread?
Because it appears that the Rope has been made useful by one of the recent patches. I've got one right now, but haven't to Entangle anyone yet.
I realize that. It's just that it's still very inappropriate (especially without the authorization of a mod/admin or the originator of the thread) to resurrect such a thread that has lost its interest. I didn't exactly authorize such, so that's why I posted my previous post.
Overall, it's like kicking at a dead horse.

Sheesh, kill me for trying to help out someone in need! It's no skin off my nose if I decide to respond to someone's 2-year-old query.
And how is this being inappropriate? I took my time to respond. I didn't ask you to respond to his query. I wasn't aware that you're the lord and king of this web forum.

Galuf's just trying to enforce the letter and the spirit of the forum rules. It could be interpreted that bumping a 2-year-old thread, even with some new content, violates rule 7 in spirit at least, given that odds are anybody involved in that post has either moved on or solved any problems. In general, issues that dead, and which haven't come up in the intervening years, aren't going to be much interest. Thus, there's a rule about it.
Anyway, it's fair enough to say that some people may still be wondering about the rope, so this case is kind of in the gray area around rule 7, but if there's no one posting about it, there's not a lot of interest. One of Galuf's responsibilities as a mod is to try to see the rules are followed for the good of all. You have the best intentions, I'm sure, and that's why he didn't go all cranky and start closing threads. Instead, he politely raised the issue that maybe this should be discouraged. He's not trying to put you down or anything, just trying to serve the board as best he sees fit. Try not to take offense, kay?
PS: Your last post inches toward the area of rule 1, so you may want to be careful. I know you're miffed, but still...
We're all friends here, right?

Lord Plothos shows his usefulness as a ToEE mod even more.
Like he said, it is my job (as well as his) to make sure the rules are enforced. This is somewhat at risk of violating rule #7 as well as (in the most recent user post) #1, so let's not get all out of hand, okay? Like drill instructors say in the U.S. Marines, "I can be a very nice instructor, or I can be a very mean instructor." Please take the rules of the forum into careful consideration from now on, 'kay? I may not leave too many happy smilies, but let's face it, I'm the more serious one of us two.
