lost the portal key in the first dungeon

Post by polar85 »

I had the key, then went through the portal, then went back through the portal to the first dungeon, then tried to get back through the portal but no longer had the key to do so. Can the key be used only once or am I missing something?

Did the person that had the key on them die? Or did Imoen have the key, but you let her get too injured so she had a conniption fit and ran off with it? I think in the latter, she will give you the keys and her other items nefore she leaves you, though.

In my first game, I thought it was because we let Jaheira go so I started again and the same thing happened. My character had the key the whole time. The only thing I can think of is that when we let Jaheira go to have Yoshima join then go through the portal, she keeps the key even though my character had it. Also, perhaps only the same party can go into and back from the portal. Weird!!!

The key is considered an important quest item, so it should be dumped onto your main character if someone else had it and left the party. It all could be a bug, stranger things have happened. Since you're still in the first dungeon, might not be too much trouble to start over. Or you can just recreated the item with CLUA console or Shadowkeeper.
