Hello all:
I'm a spanish power-gamer; this is my third attempt to finish BGII: Shadows of Amn, with a Kensai / Mage at 13 / 18 levels. I'm actually playing with Zifar (the Kensai/Mage), Jaheira, who broke our romance for no particular reason, Jan Jansen and Haer'Dalis. I'm playing Chapter 6, about to begin Chapter 7. I have completed almost every quest I could complete and earned a lot of experience without cheating, just playing with Jaheira when neccesary, learning lot of scrolls, and so on. As a power-gamer, I decided to get some extra experience killing everybody at the Shadow Thieves Guild. But I think I should have make them angry, because that thief at the Guild's door attacked me at first sight. The thing is when I enter the Guild, apart from the thieves I left there the last time I visited them (and that was before going to Brynnlaw with Saemon), a thief called something like "ARKANID GITH" appears and kill all my party just with a shot. That Arkanid Gith seems to throw a dagger, and usually needs just one shot to kill everyone at my party (and they are really powerful: Haer'Dalis is level 26). I make Zifar, the protagonist, learn Resistance to Magic Weapons spell, and use it, and that Arkanid can't hit me. Then, I slayed him, but he never dies. He just reach the "About to death" state, but never dies, although I keep my party hitting on him like psychotics. As I have never seen any information about this Arkanid, could anyone help me? Have you seen him before? How could I slay him to death? He seems to appear only at Shadow Thieves Guild, no matter which door you use to get in. Thank you very much, and goodbye.

There's a bug where characters reach 1 point of health and wont die. i dont remember the command to de activate this invulnerability (ctrl y doesnt work).
So try performing a cheat on "draconis wont die" because he was a classic one affected with this problem.

Flesh to stone ain't permanent, it seems.

You can really power game and cheese him to death, the only way I've heard of killing him is by illegally draining his stats to 0 (zero) or less. Arkanis has a ring or some other item that prevents him from getting less than 1 hitpoint (making him unkillable).
Haerdallis still has his original short swords right? One of them has the attribute of draining 2 Dexterity per hit, get him to cast Tensors transformation, offensive spin and then timestop (from a scroll obviously) while Arkanis Gath is in sight and then just simply wail on him.
Haerdallis's sword will just drain Arkanis's Dexterity to 0 and kill him.

The character you've encountered is Arkanis Gath and he appears if you attack the shadow thieves, for example Renal, if you've sided with the shadow thieves. He's obviously there to avoid players breaking the plot.
You can kill him with stat drain, as mentioned above. The only to do so would be to get Renals boots though.
Search the SoA forum for more info.

Limited Wish Method
On an older thread I read about another draining method. Have your mage cast limited wish (hope their wisdom isn't low) and choose a one time option. One of the one time choice is to polymorph into a mind flayer. If you can immobilize him or timestop or cast invul. to magic weapons on your mage you can drain his intelligence to 0 and get rid of him. You can buy limited wish if you haven't found it from the mage in the back of the Ribald Barteman's Emporium in the Promenade. Arkanis will also appear in the other shadow thief lair (the guy you are checking up on for Renal Bloodscalp, I forgot his name) where you can also meet Edwin. Since my PC for this run through is a Paladin I did not have any of the NPC's try thieving for my actual game. But out of curiousity as to how good Yoshimo was, I saved the game and for practice tried to pickpocket the barkeep/merchant in that building. Well Arkanis appeared instantly and I was shocked at his nick someone and kill them ability. I reloaded and tried someone else in that building and sure enough Arkanis showed up again. May try to bag the scut on my next go through.
