problem with installation

can' install game
can't get past location for the installation choice
i do not have a c: drive and i suspect that this cause the problem
my main and only partition is labelled e: ( dvdrw is marked d: and cdrw is marked f: )
when i try to install game first choice for game is c: drive, but since i don't have it i get a weird message about amount of free space - just couple random letters and numbers where amount of free space on drive should be marked
when i try to set folder for installation on drive e: (any location, any folder) i get same message and if i try to press "next" i get message, that there si not enought free space on that drive
tryed that on 2 diffrent versions of the game (first one i borrowed from a friend, second one dl from internet) - same every time
using winxp with all latest updates - all other programs and games work just fine
any ideas, solutions or anything ?

well, a bit 2 late 4 me now
2 days ago torpeded my OS by accident and had to reinstall all - lost a lot of data
but well, at least everything works faster now and i got DS up and running without a problem
looks like problem was in that drive letter
