I'm wondering if it would be worth compiling a FAQ sticky for Morrowind. Most of the time when I come in here, I see the same questions repeatedly, so do you think there would be any point in collectively compiling answers to things like:
"How do I find Creeper/Mudcrab?"
Are there other merchants who have plenty of cash? Is there a way to get around the problem?
"How do I enchant?"
"How can I get rich quick?"
etc. etc.
Of course... there is no guarantee that people would actually read such a sticky, but there is one in the BG2 forum that seems to be read a lot, given the number of views. Thoughts?

yeah itd be a great idea, only problem is as is noted above not amny would pay attention, but if mods make it a sticky, it would give them somewhere to dircet new ppl to the site who come and ask "where is creeper?" they can just say go to this thread, and if they r feeling nice give a link, make it ez on them and us..
If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.

Well I don't think there is anything wrong with searches, personally. That is what the search button is there for, and I've always found it to work very well.
While I do suspect that people would ignore an FAQ (Kind of like when people madly shake a locked door...despite the "We're Closed" sign staring them in the face), I agree that it would be nice and simple to just dump the link into threads when people ask, "Where is Creeper?" etc.

Hardly anyone will ever read it who really needs to, IMO. I've been part of too many boards that did just this, and the stickies were routinely ignored. A perfect example is the Mods forum at the Elder Scrolls board, where there's a bold-faced sticky telling you to read it first that explains how to install mods, etc. There isn't a day that goes by without at least half-a-dozen people showing up, asking how to install mods.
As it is, when people ask those questions, DW, I just tell them to do an advanced search, and close the thread. With a sticky FAQ, I'd just tell them to check there, and close the thread. But if you or someone else wants to go through the effort of compiling and polishing something like this, so it's perfect and makes excellent sense, I'll sticky it.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
After the BGII FAQ, I'm in total agreeance that the thread would essentially be worthless due to the fact that it wouldn't be read. To compose a FAQ for that game took up plenty of time, and a lot of good it did us.

@AC and Fable..
*sigh* You are both right. I don't know, for a brief moment I was struck with a sudden burst of optimism, and the hope that maybe, just maybe... people would read and search before asking
*blames it on the especially fine red Zin being sampled at the time*

Hey, FAQs can be fun to write, though. Perhaps if some one here seriously is in desire of a project to occupy their time they could compose one. I'm just merely bringing up the fact that I'm still seeing new posters in the BG2 forum asking which is the best party formation.
The fact that Vic's service provider died may contribute as to why no one reads it, but that's beyond my point.
Would it be a sticky? Probably not, but I would think that it would get enough hits and additions to typically keep the thread around the first page or so.
