Characters who benefit most from Vhailors helm (item spoiler)

Post by myrophine »

I thought of a few good ideas with this helm but first some observations...

* If the character can already cast simulacrum (mage/sorceror) then its pretty pointless...(plus they may not be able to wear helms)

* The simmy is about 1/2 the level of the regular character

* You CAN restore a fighters simmy to full level but I consider that a particularly sharp variety of cheese so my examples won't include that tactic.

* The simmy can break the summoning cap and farm out with items, spells (but 1/2 casting level), and special abilities. This can get pretty cheesy indeed so I won't discuss it...well I will say that its pretty funny when Cernds (29th level) simmy craps out six copy of an elemental prince and they are all standing around saying "who has summoned me" :p

* The simmy lasts about 10 rounds? So make hay while the sun shines.

Anyhow the best thing I could come up with was simply take a multi-class fighter/druid. Level up to 1.75 k experience (in each class) and you have 3 high level abilities. But you only have 1 7th level spell slot so its pointless to grab druidic quest spells - and its going to be an ice age before you get 15th druid and have 6 spell slots.

So take whirlwind and greater whirlwind first. Your simulacrum will be able to do those things :) . BUT the thaco is 1/2 that of a multiclass warrior:speech:
Anything you can actually hit would probably be killed easier with 2 or 3 summoned fire elementals. Fix this with the 3rd HLA (elemental transformation) - I would pick fire elemental which only has 1 attack but your gonna whirlwind right? The elementals THACO is SET at -2 plus enormous strength :)

For about four rounds your simulacrum will do 1d10phys + 11 str + 1d10 fire for each hit and they get 10 hits a round.
