Timecode Error

Post by klesk »

As male Revan in the first game I've decided to decapitate Bastila in the Star Forge. However in the second game she can be seen talking to Carth. Was there secret comment that I chose (during talking) that made her appear or is there a timecode error. I would have liked Revan to end up being the savior of the galaxy with Bastila slain (don't ask why. . . I just don't want her around).

The problem is that the original game allows far too much freedom in terms of what you can do to your companions. :p As a DS player you can kill Jolee, and Juhani, get Zaalbar to kill Mission, and leave Carth stranded on the unknown world. As an LS player you can kill Juhani and kill (or fail to save) Bastilla. Bioware obviously weren't thinking of a sequel.

So, when you tell Atton whether Revan was male/female, LS/DS in the first conversation you have with him in his force cage, the game makes a few assumptions as to what is reasonable. That conversation is key to all of the subsequent cameo appearances:

[spoilers]

If Revan was DS then Bastilla is alive in a hologram to explain why the Sith haven't taken over the galaxy given that the StarForge wasn't destroyed. However, if Revan was LS male then the game assumes you romanced Bastilla which should have made her easier to save, and she appears after the Ravager and in T3's hologram.

The game makes similar assumptions as to whether or not Carth should appear as a Republic admiral and in T3's hologram (if Revan is LS female).
LucasArts in interview with GameSpy, September 2004
"We were hoping we could bring the Xbox platform into December but didn't want to make the formal announcement until we knew an earlier ship date would not compromise the quality of The Sith Lords," says Producer Mike Gallo.
