I'm unsure as to how he died, but, if I remember correctly, Mask and Cyric killed him..(read that ages ago, so I'm not sure).

It was the Time of Troubles, when gods were forced to walk Toril in physical form. Cyric slew Bhaal...and Mask was directly involved. Kelemvor slew Myrkul, himself taking that god's power.

There is a book in the game I believe somewhere n the series or maybe in Icewind dale or maybe in Forgotten Realms source books.
It says they fought on a bridge. Something about Oh the west/(or east side) of the bridge, denoting where Bhaal fell on the bridge.
Did you ever read the book of the dead three.
And the Gnome Tios, /"Tios be damned"/ he is a follower of Cyric

The Avatar Trilogy is the set you'd want to read for more info.

During the Time of Troubles, the gods walked the realms. Mask (god of thieves) took over an intelligent sword which Cyric (still mortal) happened to find. Bane, Bhaal, and Myrkul all banned together to oppose the "overgod" Ao, and steal the Tablets of Fate, while a few humans: Kelemvor, Adon, Midnight, and Cyric sought to restore the world.

In a battle to that effect, Cyric plunged his sword into Bhaal.

Incidentally, Torm killed Bane, and Midnight killed Myrkul.

Kelemvor, Midnight (Mystra) and Cyric are all gods now... Adon is Midnight's high priest.

Kelemvor slew Myrkul, himself taking that god's power.
I think it was Midnight (Mystra) who slew Myrkul. When both she and Cyric ascended to godhood Cyric was granted the portfolio for Death. Kelemvor only assumed the mantle after a revolt in the City of Strife, which saw Cyric's lose the portfolio. (the exact circumstances are detailed in the novel The Prince of Lies)
It says they fought on a bridge. Something about Oh the west/(or east side) of the bridge, denoting where Bhaal fell on the bridge.

It was the Boareskyr Bridge in the Western Heartlands of Faerun - the original bridge was destroyed in the battle, Bhaal's blood poisoning the Winding Water running between Boareskyr Bridge and Trollclaw Ford.
And the Gnome Tios, /"Tios be damned"/ he is a follower of Cyric

Do you mean Tiax, the CE cleric/thief from the original Baldur's Gate game
Torm killed Bane
I believe Bane has now returned to the realms, further challenging Cyric's power.

Cyric slew Bhaal with an incredibly powerful sword that was later revealed to have been the Avatar of Mask. Eventually there was a huge race across Waterdeep to get the Tablets of Fate back to Helm and Lord Ao which resulted in Cyric and Midnight ascending to Godhood (and later Kelemvor).

Cyric inherited the portfolios of (I believe) Bane, Bhaal and Myrkul after Torm slew Bane outside of Tantras (Torm himself died but was returned to Godhood by Ao) and Myrkul was destroyed. I can't remember how he died exactly, I vaguely thought it was Bane himself who killed his ally but I may be wrong there. I also don't believe Mystra killed Myrkul because that would imply he died before Mystra was killed by Torm, which happened soon after the God's were cast out and I don't think there was enough time for her to accomplish such a task.

Midnight took over Mystra's portfolio (adopting her name and everything) after she was killed by Helm for trying to push her way back into the heavens to talk to Lord Ao.

Kelemvor eventually usurped Cyric as Lord of the Dead, how I can't remember.

Once again I'm a little rusty as I read these books long ago, but the exact info can be found in the Avatar Trilogy and the ensuing books concerning Cyric, Kel and Mystra (The Trial of Cyric, some others... was a trilogy I can't remember the name).

Cyric inherited the portfolios of (I believe) Bane, Bhaal and Myrkul
Also he later acquired the portfolio of Leira the Lady of Mists and Illusion after he and Mask plotted her downfall, and I also beleive that he gained some of Masks portfolio (Intrigue) after Mask went mad after reading Cyric's book.

I'm pretty sure it was Midnight. Bane was killed in the novel Tantras Myrkul died in Waterdeep. Wikipedia suggests it was Mystra, but I believe it is referring to the NG Mystra (Midnight) as opposed to LN one who as you rightly point was slain earlier by Helm.

.

Mystra, Ohgma, Torm and Mask conspired against Cyric after he attempted to write a false history of his ascension (the book had some bad mojo going on). Therefore the "good" gods arranged a revolt of the dead in the City of Strife. When Cyric lost control of his domain, and thus threatened the balance it was decided that he should lose his charge. As Kelevemor had been instrumental in Cyric's defeat he was offered the position.

I remember the Leira fiasco now, but I don't believe Cyric gained any of Mask's portfolio; I know Mask read the book, but Cyric just gained influence over Mask not actually part of his Godhood. influence

Ah, that makes sense and you may very well be right. I agree with ya.

That too I also remember now; I bow to your superior grasp of Realms lore :D . I had forgotten most of this stuff but it's funny how it comes back to you. :D

Nope he did, Mask went from an Intermediate power to a Lesser power....

Mask's multilayered plots ultimately resulted in his reading of the Cyrinishad, a mistake that nearly destroyed him, cost him much of his divine power, and allowed Cyric to seize the portfolio of intrigue. (taken from http://www.nwncityofarabel.com/gods/mask.htm)

It's about the only realms lore I actually know, I loved the Avatar trilogy and Prince of Lies when I was younger. I found the gods of the realms more interesting than most of its heroes. Although admittedly I haven't read anything new about them for years now.

You are, yet again, correct it seems friend. I too was a huge fan of this series, especially the Tantras book; I don't know why but thats been a favorite of mine for years.
