Bodhi quests - Spoilers

Ok it's been a while since I've taken Bodhi's path to Spellhold, but this game I intend to kill both Shadow Thieves and Vampires (Side with Bodhi so I can kill thieves then kill her), but I'm kinda roleplaying a justice crazy paladin, and I was wondering about (I think it's the first quest you get given by Bodhi) the quest to murder the guy in the Government district and frame the Shadow thieves for it. I remember one of the options, while talking to the victim, was that you could choose not to kill him...however last time I didn't choose that path, because I was afraid of Bodhi's response.
So - can I let this guy live without screwing it up with Bodhi?

Yes, one of the options is to tell him to run far away so you don't have to kill him, but as soon as you do it he tells his guards to kill you.

Ah ok - thanks, then I won't feel so bad when I do kill him.
