I have a question, or two.

You might think its a rather daft one but this is the first time I've come to these forums.

What are these 'mods' you all keep talking about?

Whats CLUAing?

Also (I am aware this is early in the game) the druids in Irenicus' dungeon no longer mark the location of the Windspear Hills on my map. They used to! Is there any other way to get Windspear marked on my map so I can go there and free the druids?

Mods are something I know little about myself never having tried once but they are modifiers to the game which you can download or whatever. I suggest you play the game all the way through before trying a mod.

As for Windspear Hills, you can talk to Lord Jierdan Firkragg in the Copper Coronet after you escape the dungeon. He is the guy in yellow and red. Hope this doesn't reveal too much...

Mods - Mods are short for modifications, which change the game. This is to add:
a) More people to join your party
b) More quests to make gameplay more enjoyable
c) Fix things up, such as changing items that were incorrect
d) Add more kits to make your main character from
e) Add romances to existing party members
f) Add more items

And many other things to help out gameplay. In all terms, you look for a mod that is balanced, meaning, that by adding it, it doesn't ruin the whole game. Eg. Adding a quest which gives a +5 weapon just for finding a weak monster and killing it would be unbalanced, however giving 1000 gold for that task, is balanced. You can read about good mods in several topics on this board.

Clua are all the variables and controls within the game. CLUA could mean:

a) Adding encounters that failed, a popular one is the adding of Dermis with the Jaheria romance, which frequently causes problems
b) Adding items lost, such as if you missed out on the pommel in Irenicus' dungeon
c) Going to places that are unnaccesible, such if you missed out the person who was supposed to tell you (recenctly someone killed a person who tells you about Umar)

To enable CLUA, go to the Baldur.ini, and under [Program Options] add DebugMode = 1.

Finally, you can talk to Jierdan Firkraag in the Copper Coronet. He will tell you about the Windspear Hills, where he needs orcs killed...

Hope this helps :) .

Thank you for your input. I'll try talking to Jierdan

I was under the impression romance with NPC characters occurred anyway, without the help of any additional software?

There are existing romances in the game but some of the mods add new ones either with characters in the game or with characters added by another mod.

Popular romance scripts consist of Valygar, Nalia, and I think Imoen is in the works.

Mazzy is also in the works, over at Spellhold studios. Finally, someone to romance for little people!

And I think many a more previously silent NPC is gaining a modder, but just make sure you don't install a strange mod found out of the way... it could quite easily corrupt your game, or worse. Which is why you should stick to such sites as Pocket Plane, G3, Spellhold, and many more of those.

Doesn't Jaheria come with a romance, without the use of MODs?

Yes, but there are mods that fix the romance, because it is highly likely that when you play it, you will have it bugged.
