Is ToB worth getting? Is it just a couple of dungeon levels or is there more to this .
I really like BG2

Is ToB worth getting?
Hi y'all
I think it is worth getting, if only to play out the final part of the saga and see what happenes. don't get your hopes up though, it's very good for an expansion, but i think that instead of making this expansion, they should have made a BG3. TOB was too short and had almost no side quests. Far too strait forward for my tastes
No doubt....it's a great expansion IMO. You'll find a lot of new abilities, monsters, spells.....and you'll know how the story of your character will end.

That's really a question of personal taste... If you don't like powerful abilities, magical items beyond anything seen before, intrigue, combat with powerful monsters and enemies, and are totally uninterested in the epic conclusion of the (IMHPO) greatest CFRPG series ever, you should save your money
However, if those things apeal to you - go get it!

If you think of Throne of Bhaal as "Baldur's Gate 3", you will be severely disappointed. While I liked bringing the Bhaalspawn story to a close, it lacks many of things which made BG2 so great.
There is only one new NPC, Sarevok, and almost none of the character specific side quests that make BG2 so different each time you play it. The main gist of ToB is to walk around and kill all of the bad guys you run in to. In that sense, it is very much like Icewind Dale.
Watcher's Keep is a terrific dungeon, but could have been placed in IWD and no one would have noticed the difference. I think the designers go so wrapped up in making each new boss villain bigger and badder than the last that they lost something in the story.
Having said that, remember that ToB is an expansion, not a stand alone game. Its development cycle was much shorter than BG2's and I suspect that Bioware pulled all of its top folks off ToB and put them on other projects (like Ruins of Myth Drannor). I did enjoy many of the high level abilities, but I would rather have had a strong story drive the game, not bigger explosions and cooler effects.
So is Throne of Bhaal worth buying? Yes, no question. Is it as good as BG2? No.

Jesus saves! And takes half damage!
If brute force doesn't work, you're not using enough.
