Good points, but why dont they legalize Marijuana and put tax on it? I mean like anyones gonna admit they grow it, or something. Put tax on the plant, or something. and worry about worse drugs.
How would they tax it if everyone could grow it themselves? The government doesn't have enough money to find and charge everyone who does have it, let alone forcing everyone to pay taxes for something they can grow in their yard with very little effort.

What about quality control? Hemp is known to be mixed with bull feces due to the aspect. what do that does for human health? How to control the small crops from gardens everywhere? How to effectivelly stop the new market for people who will try to evade taxes right after its legalized?

Wrong.

1. It's not proven to be addictive. At least, not anymore than anything can be addictive. Some people are addicted to work, it doesn't mean working should be illegal.
2. It is proven to cause lung cancer if used innapropiately.

@ Luis, quality control? Marijauna will grow just about anywhere, and in any conditions. So long as it has sunlight and water, it will grow. Hence the nickname "weed". I have no clue where the cow poo comes into play, unless you are discussing fertilizer, in which case, half the crops coming out the US have traces of cow poo in them.

Taxes solve nothing in this case. Taxes are trowing away money, investing cash on something the people dont need if they wont smoke, and only make smokers angry cause they need to eat/have less fun for the sake of smoking. So, it wont work for weed too. Tax it? We contraband it like it was right before the legalization. Presto.

I dunno about mixed with it, maybe grown with it tho. :D Umm, greenhouses. Yeah. And create a cannabis-friendly market that encourages people to pay tax on it since they can now advretise and compete in the open. :D

I agree. It would be the prohibition all over again.

I'm all for legalizing it, and not just for personal reasons. The illegal drug trade is responsible for killing and corrupting huge amounts of people every day, and if there is less drugs to traffic, it stands to reason that less people would die or become criminals.

Pot's not a dangerous drug. It's about as harmfull as tobacco, and far less addictive. You've never heard of someone od'ing on it because you'd have to smoke several hundred bucks worth to do so.

Then people are gonna be STILL using it illegally. MANY MANY people grow/smoke Marijuana illegally, and if its used stupidly it will give you cancer. and you said before. its not addictive in most cases, so most of the people can quit when they want.

Hmm, my opinion on it. Weed is like Alcohol in a way, yet better.

First, yeah, it does make you do stupid stuff. Oh no, so does alcohol and people have become responsible with that.

However, two major differences-

One, it's a cancer fighting agent. Now how lucky can you get for THAT. We are spending so much to try and cure cancer with radiation, something that could make it worse, but we made Weed illegal because it makes you do stupid crap? What a pity society has become.

Two, it's illegal, but in a lot of cases, is a lot like Alcohol. So, for reason number one to be the MOST CRITICAL part of this, why is it illegal? More importantly, why is IT illegal over somethign that's NOT illegal and causes cancer? How can you compare tobbaco which gives cancer to weed that prevents it, and make WEED illegal?

Gods society is ignorant. There's even an ad on this forum that obviously didn't do it's research. It specifically said Weed is bad for you (not for doing stupid crap, but for your lungs). Umm hello? It's not.

So, I think that Cigarrettes(SP?) should be illegal and Weed should be legal.

Politicians in Holland are suggesting a try-out for Hemp-plantations. The government will help set up hemp-plantations/greenhouses which they then supervise to control the quality and price of weed. At least, that's the plan. I believe a decision on it is still pending...

I agree with you there.

As to whether or not it is bad for your lungs...depending on how you smoke it, and how much you smoke of it, it can be very bad for your lungs. VERY bad. However, if you ask an honest doctor about it, they will tell you that in moderation, and used properly (which I won't get into here for certain reasons), it is better for you than cigarettes, or alcohol.

I didn't know that Ikcy, thanks for sharing. :)

I do recall hearing weed fights cancer, but you'd still have to smoke it... Doesn't smoking cause cancer again?

And banning cigarettes while legalizing weed doesn't make all the sense in the world, unless you want to smoke a 100% marijuana blunt. I can tell you: 1. it's expensive and 2. it doesn't burn IIRC.

@ Siberys-
Weed doesnt fight cancer, and does a bit more damage to your lungs than cigarettes. Check out Athena's link.

@Ik- IIRC, they do.
