Lysan,... the invincible?
Lysan,... the invincible?
Hey, I'm totally new here, and for a start I hope this is posted in the right place. Really big apologies if its not.
I've seen posts here about finding Lysan, and yeah, admittedly I had trouble with that too at the beginning, buy my problem really is... she wont die!
I really don't know what's going on. All the weapons are ineffective, except for my priest's flame-sword (from the spell), and that only works every so often. I've noticed invincibility in Mummies as well, but seeing as they were weak and never posed a threat to my team, I assumed it was just how they were scripted. Now I'm not so sure what is going on.
Is there something specific I need to do to defeat Lysan? I've managed before to kill all the yetis but not her, and I've actually got her down to 'almost dead' using magic stones and the flame-sword, but other than that... I'm clueless.
Surely there must be an easier way.
Thanks in advance for any help.

<=-As my good friend Billion Smythe used to say... no, no... wait that's me, sorry, what was I thinking?-=>
I'm pretty certain I have the latest patch, and my team consists of:
1 Half-elf Fighter (Level 5)
1 Elf Druid (Level 5)
1 Elf Ranger (Level 4)
1 Human Paladin (Level 4)
1 Halfling Thief (Level 5)
1 Halfling Cleric (Level 5)
Everytime I get them to attack her it says 'weapon inefficient', I'm not sure what that means in the great context of things. I hope that helps.
(Oh, and I think its the easiest difficulty, I mean, it's seemed pretty simple upto now)

Generally speaking, when you get the "weapon ineffective" message, it means that either the damage type of your weapon (slashing, piercing, bludgeoning) is unable to affect your target, or that the magical bonus of your weapon (if any) isn't high enough to have an effect. For example, if your target is only affected by +2 or greater weapons, you'll need at least a +2 weapon for your hit to even register, let alone cause damage.
Incidentally, there is the spell Protection from Magical Weapons which works in the inverse- you would need a non-magical weapon to affect the target.
All of this is, of course, assuming that your game is working properly and it's just your tactics that are causing the problem. If your game is glitched, none of this matters. I would suggest trying different weapon types, spells, and whatever else to see what exactly works, if anything. If you've done that already and you're still having problems, odds are your game is skewed.

I think I can probably risk sounding like a complete newbie here, as, to be honest, I thought that 'encumberance' was an error in the game at first. So, how exactly would I see what type of weapons I had? I mean, I've always judged them by the damage they do, and nothing else really.

You can right-click the weapons in your inventory to get a better description of them. The magic stones spell give you the equivalent of Bullets +1, so presumably magic weapons would help. If you have any that a '+1' (or higher) when you leave the mouse-cursor over them for a short while or in the description, you could equip those, they may have a better effect on Lysan.
Lysan...she is the Priestess of Auril, right? I noticed that if I put my melee guys right on top of her and use my ranged guys to pelt her with missiles, she isn't that tough. Try forcing her into a melee...she is a cleric after all and should be weak at toe to toe combat.
"Korax thinks you look very tasty today...
I think it must be a glitch, because I have been doing what you've said (with the exception of the weapons advice, I'll try that later). I have my ranger and my thief pelt her with arrows and crossbow bolts while my melee fighter's attack her with their 'high quality' melee weapons gathered from various guards in Kresselack's tomb.
The only things that affect her for me are magic, and with her silencing attack, that puts me in a bad position when both my magic using characters can't do anything

thinking about it, i have a feeling she casts protection from normal weapons as i can remember once having to summon a magical weapon with my cleric or druid to kill her, although i usually just set my main tank on her to keep her busy while my party take out the yetis, then i just lay into her with whatever spell you have got. another good tactic is to have a cleric immediately cast silence on her and keep casting it til she fails the save. then she cannot buff herself up and is really easy.
Well, I finally managed to get past it by using upgraded weapons (all +1). So, I'm glad it wasn't some bug, it would have sucked to start again after getting so far.
Thanks for all your help! It was pretty easy in the end.
